© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma 13 March 2002 Bertha Mae [Salyer] Carson Bertha Mae [Salyer] Carson passed away March 11, 2002, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She had been a resident in Corpus Christi since 1997. Bertha was born May 19, 1912, in Cement, Oklahoma to Elbert Ethiel and Lucy Viola Clegg Dill, she was 89 years old. Bertha was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, Cement, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and active in the Senior Citizens Center until she moved to Texas. Bertha worked at the school cafeteria and in retail businesses. Bertha was preceded in death by Homer K. Carson, to whom she was married seven and one-half years, her parents Elbert and Lucy Viola [Clegg] Dill, her sisters Mellie Rickard and Gladys Lane and her brother Haskell Dill. Bertha is survived by her children Barbara Ann Barker, [Wayne] of Corpus Christi, Texas, Glen Daryl Salyer, [Melba] and Larry Don Salyer, [Elizabeth] of Freeport, Texas, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law. Graveside services will be held at the Cement Cemetery, Cement, under the direction of Robbins Funeral Home, Fletcher, with Rev. Jerry Barker, Bertha's grandson, officiating, at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2002. Sympathy cards may be sent to the family on line at www.robbinsfuneral.com. |
