Anadarko, Oklahoma Monday, May 28, 2012 July 1, 1938 ~ February24, 1985 ANADARKO Funeral for Pamela Adele Whiteshield, 51, Anadarko, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Anadarko. She passed away Saturday, May 26, 2012, in Lawton with her family at her side. Burial will follow at Cache Creek Indian Cemetery located west of Apache. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Comanche Nation Community Center in Apache, followed by an all-night wake service. Pamela was born on May 2, 1961, to Ruby DeCorah and Randolph R. Whiteshield in Los Angeles. She attended Anadarko Public Schools and Concho Indian School. She attended and graduated from Marcos De Niza High School in Tempe, Ariz., where she was also a tennis champion. She received her LPN certificate from Caddo Kiowa Vo-Tech in Fort Cobb. She received her R.N. associate degree from Oklahoma City Community College. She worked at Comanche Memorial Hospital, Integris Baptist, Mercy, St. Anthony's, Lawton Indian Hospital, Anadarko Hospital and Carter Home Health Care, from which she retired from nursing a few years ago. She was a member of the Apache Tribe of Oklahoma. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served as primary teacher for several years. She loved teaching young children the Gospel. She always made a special baptism bag for her nieces and nephews. Pam loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed making jewelry, sewing, native American crafts, beadwork, pottery, making ribbon shirts, attending pow-wows and tribal dances. She also enjoyed cooking and baking, listening to music, dancing, and watching her favorite TV shows. She also had a special place in her heart for her kitties. She is survived by her mother, Ruby Decorah, Anadarko; her daughter, Drina Adele Lozania, Anadarko; her grandchildren: Benicio Gomez, Yuliana Lozania, Arianna Lozania, and Luis Alvarez Jr.; her son, Randolph Charles Gomez; her sisters: Sheryl Whiteshield, Fort Cobb, Natalie Whiteshield, Lawton, Elaine Whiteshield, Anadarko, Daphne Laquement of Oklahoma City, Randy Lynnette Whiteshield-Beartrack and husband Wrandall of Chickasha, Wendy Whiteshield of Oklahoma City, LaDonna Narcomey and husband Phillip, Oklahoma City, Shawn Silverhorn of Anadarko, Aurelia Kate Chaney-Whiteshield of Chickasha, Tewanna Whiteshield of Chickasha; a special uncle, Lucien "Jimmy" LookingGlass, Shiprock, N.M.; Aunt LaDora Nimsey, Apache; Uncle Kenneth and Aunt Lisa LookingGlass, Apache; Aunt Gloria Toyebo, Mole Lake, Wis.; two special friends whom she loved dearly: Janet Palmer and Lois Swift; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. She was preceded in death by her father, Randolph R. Whiteshield, her maternal grandparents: Gladys Loft and John B. DeCorah, her paternal grandparents: Aurelia and Frank LookingGlass; a grandfather, Silas Whiteshield, and her favorite cousin, Calvin Poler. Friends may call from 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Comanche Nation Community Center, Apache, until the prayer service begins |
