Tobias James "Toby" Martinez
November 24, 1988 ~ November 2, 2017


ANADARKO Tobias "Toby" James Martinez, 28, of Anadarko, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, November 2, 2017.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at First Baptist Church in Anadarko with Pastor Lynn Bellamy, and Katy and Rick Pickens officiating. Burial will follow at Cache Creek KCA Cemetery under direction of Comanche Nation Funeral Home.

Wake service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at the church in Anadarko. Toby was born November 24, 1988, in Lawton to Angel and Janet [Archilta] Martinez. Toby graduated from Anadarko High School in 2008, and received his associate degree from Redlands Community College in 2013.

Toby married the love of his life, Ashley Campa in Las Vegas on Feb. 13, 2010. Toby was a member of the Apache Tribe of Oklahoma. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends especially his children. He was a member of the Boy Scouts and earned his Eagle Scout. He was also a Blackbelt in Tae Kwondo.

Toby is survived by: wife, Ashley Martinez; and children: Angelita Martinez and Milo Martinez, all of the home; stepchildren: Christian Hunter and Richard Hunter III; parents: Janet and Angel Martinez; brothers: Tony Martinez, Randy and wife Shannon Martinez, and Sergio Aguilar; sister, Angela Martinez; grandparents: Kaye Prince, Sara Hermosillo Vela and Vincente Matrtinez Jaquez; aunts and uncles: Tyson and Lynell Archilta, Rudarla and Gerry Matlock, Blossom Prince, Sara and Jesse, Niriam and Jamie, Morrayma and Rogue, Julio and Susana, and Noe and Nena; Chuy and Romona, and Vicente Martinez; mother-in-law, Linda Campa; two special friends: Eric Wright and Cheryl Klinekole; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Toby was preceded in death by: grandparents: Rudary Archilta Redbone, Edith Carson, Jewell Carson; uncles: Joe Otero and Jorge Martinez; aunt, Rosharon Archilta; and cousin, Noe Martinez Jr.

28-year-old Anadarko man died Thursday in an accident involving a tractor-trailer rig carrying hydrogen sulfide.

The wreck occurred 3-miles east of Gracemont, The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported. Tobias J. Martinez died at the scene from massive injuries after he was pinned for about four hours inside the truck's cab.

Martinez was driving a Peterbilt rig eastbound on Gracemont Road around 10:15 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a right curve and went off the roadway to the left, overturning a half time. He was wearing a seat belt. Anadarko firefighters finally freed him using the Jaws of Life tool, according to the OHP report.
