June 21, 1949 ~ November 10, 2009


ANADARKO Funeral for Timmie Kingfisher, 60, Anadarko, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Apache United Methodist Church with Shelly Ware, pastor, and Charisse Redbone, pastor, officiating.

Mr. Kingfisher died Tuesday, November 10, 2009, in a Lawton hospital.

Burial will be in Cache Creek KCA Cemetery, Apache, under direction of Comanche Nation Funeral Home.

He was born June 21, 1949, to Leona Faye Burgess Stephenson and George Kingfisher. He enlisted in the Air Force at Kansas City, Mo., on December 9, 1971, and served until November 8, 1972, earning the rank of Airman. He took his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base and Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. He also served at Altus AFB, where he was discharged. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal for service during a national emergency.

He was a member of the Comanche Nation and was a Yellowfish descendant. He was also half Cherokee.

Survivors include three sons: Eric Lieb, Ponca City; and Keith Kingfisher and Jed Cree Kingfisher, both of Perkins; a daughter, Lisa Rose Lieb, Oklahoma City; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Georgetta Campbell, Cache; and Debbie and Junior Franklin, Cushing; six grandchildren: Zack Lieb, Bishop Lieb, Larcen Lieb, Norene Clark, Jewell Horinek, and MaKenna Kingfisher; a great-grandchild, Leon Lieb; an aunt, Letty Ann Hogan, Hardin, Mont.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, LaVera Lieb; his mother and stepfather, Leona Faye Burgess Stephenson and Dudley Stephenson; his father; three brothers: James Keith Kingfisher, Dudley Derek Stephenson and Dennis Burgess; a sister, Gail Marilyn Burgess Oldhorn; grandparents: Allen Motah Burgess and Ida Ada Kate Yellowfish; and great-grandparents: Moh-Way and Woomahvoyah, and Yellowfish and Thaum-Mahvoyah.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
