November 23, 1923 ~ January 6, 2009


FORT COBB: Funeral for Mary Virginia Jay, 85, Fort Cobb, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Anadarko, with Joe Bailey, president, presiding.

Prayer Service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Comanche Nation Funeral Home Chapel. She died Tuesday, Jananuary 6, 2008, in Chickasha.

Burial will be at Cache Creek Cemetery, west of Apache.

She was born November 3, 1923, at the home place southwest of Fort Cobb, to Claude and May Pewo Nesahkluah.

She grew up and attended school in the Fort Cobb area.

She married Houston Klinekole Sr., and they resided in the Apache area.

She was a member of the Apache Tribe of Oklahoma, a charter member of the Apache Service Club, Native American Church and the Apache Blackfeet Society. She was the oldest lady elder of the Apache Tribe.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Austin and Kelley Klinekole, Boone; a sister, Mary Hawkins, Fort Cobb; a sister-in-law, Leatrice Jay, Fort Cobb; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husbands: Houston Klinekole Sr. and Thomas Jones; her parents; a son, Houston Klinekole, Jr.; two daughters: Linda Houstine Klinekole Scales and Mary Ruth Galindo; a sister, Rosalee Jay; and a brother, Elmer Finley Jay, Sr.

June 22, 1956 ~ June 29, 2021


Carol "Tootie" Jay, 65, of Fort Cobb, OK went to her heavenly home on June 29, 2021. She was born June 22, 1956 in Lawton, OK to Elmer Jay Sr, and Leatrice Jay.

Carol was raised in the Apache and Fort Cobb area. She attended and graduated school at Fort Cobb High School.

Carol was truly "One in a Million", to know her was to love her.

Carol was a cook by trade and a caretaker by heart, and always the hardest worker. Carol enjoyed working for Wichita and Apache Tribe AOA programs.

She enjoyed going to the casino and trying her luck. Above all, Carol loved spending time with her family and was the best Kahkoo in the world.

Carol was preceded in death by her: parents, Elmer Finley Jay Sr & Leatrice Pewewardy Jay; companion, Charles Gene Nelson; son, Eric Elmer Jay; sisters, Alice Jay, Mary Ruth Williams, and Patricia Cisco; brothers, Elmer Jay Jr., John Jay, Bobby Jay, Donald Jay Tahbonmah, Eugene Mithlo, and Roy Mitchell; aunts, Virginia Jay and Mary Hawkins; paternal grandparents, Claude & Mae Jay Nesahkluah; maternal grandparents, Mary & Ralph Pewewardy; Beloved Apache Grandpa & Grandma, Bill Watson Mithlo & Lavina Mithlo.

Carol is survived by: Daughters: Halana Jay, Anadarko, OK, Cecelia Barker, Broken Arrow, OK, Ciara Kaywaykla, Broken Arrow, OK, 10 grandchildren: Summer, John, Dante, Jordan, Gracee, Jocee, Sadee, Ezekiel, Kameron, and Taylor. Sisters, Sandy Jay & Anthony Hainta, Lottie Jay Watkins and Matthew Watkins, and Special sweet grandson, Trentyn Marshall Hainta all of Anadarko. Special niece: Misty Jay. Pets: Dog, Maggie Jay; Cat, George Jay. Special brothers and sisters: Kenneth "Goat" Chasenah, Harry Mithlo, Biscuit Mithlo, Melvin Mithlo, Lavera Birdshead, and Elvina Poolaw. Mescelaro sisters: Idella Starr, Naomi Saenz, Jan Treas, Lynelle Treas-Wilson, Toni Doris, Edith Mora.

Elmer Finley Jay Je
November 25, 1960 ~ June 27, 2011


FORT COBB: Funeral for Elmer Finley Jay Jr., 50, Fort Cobb, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church with Pastor Sharon Yeahquo and Pastor Rudolph Tartsah Jr. officiating.

Elmer went to be with the Lord Monday, June 27, 2011, in Carnegie.

Burial will follow at Cache Creek KCA Intertribal Cemetery under direction of Comanche Nation Funeral Home.

Prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at United Methodist Church of Apache.

He was born November 25, 1960, in Lawton, to Leatrice [Pewewardy] and Elmer Jay Sr., who were married on February 23, 1955, in Boone. To this marriage were born Carol Parker, of Lawton; Alice Jay, Sandy Jay and Lottie Jay, all of Anadarko. His brother, John Jay, passed away on September 1, 1984, and sister, Mary Ruth Williams, passed away in 2001.

Survivors include special friend, Lois Samaniego, of Anadarko; his children: April Summerlin, of Pryor; Elmer Dean Parrish, of Germany; John Micheal Parrish, of Big Cabin, Okla; and baby girl, Lola Gracie Jay, of Sterling; special brother, Bobby Jay, of Fort Cobb; and special grandson, John Jay, along with Conar, Nicholas, Shawn and Noah Summerlin, all of Pryor; and Michaila and Kaiden Parrish, of Germany.

Elmer worked for Frac- Tech and was a truck driver for the company that transported chemicals all over the United States. His code handle or cb handle was "Wahtash." He was also known as "Road Dog" to some close friends. He also loved golf, horses, and spending time with family. Bulls Eye will miss him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Jay Sr.; grandparents, Claude and May Jay; and other family members.

Pallbearers will be Mike Carson, Joe Ramirez, Mark Hawkins, Bobby Komardley, Evans Komardley and Donald Komardley.

Special Pallbearers will be Bobby Jay, Dennis Pewo and Raymond "Skillet" Tselee.

Alice Mae Jay
August 24, 1962 ~ September 12, 2019


On September 12, 2019, Alice Jay, loving mother, sister, niece, aunty, and Kakoo was welcomed to her heavenly home. She was born to Elmer F. Jay Sr. and Leatrice Jay on August 24, 1962.

She grew up and graduated high school in Fort Cobb, OK. After high school, she went on to become a Certified Nurse’s Assistant and lived in Claremore, OK. She moved back to Anadarko where she made her home on Virginia Street.

Alice worked at Wal-Mart and moved on to the Apache Tribe of Oklahoma Vocational Rehabilitation Receptionist. She loved working at the Voc-Rehab and helping people

When Alice was not working she loved traveling to Pow-Wows with her sidekick Elias Lee and her best friends Larue Guoladdle and Missy Blackeagle.

She was very well known for her abundant hospitality and her amazing frybread.

Alice was a member of the Apache Service Club, Apache Blackfoot Society, Victory Club, Comanche Indian Veterans Association, Kiowa Native American Church, and Apache Native American Church.

Alice was welcomed home in Heaven by her mother Leatrice Jay, her father Elmer F. Jay Sr., her brothers John Jay, Elmer Jay Jr, Bobby Jay, Donald Jay, sisters Mary Ruth, Patty Mae Cisco. Grandparents Claude and Mae Jay Nesahkluah. Aunts Virgina Jones, Mary Hawkins. Many family members and friends were also there to welcome her home.

Alice is survived by her daughter Donna Jay-Bussell and husband Brandon of Mustang, OK. Son LaForce Gene Bearbow Jr. and wife Jaquela of Dickinson, ND. Her baby Elias Lee Vasquez of the home and her four-legged baby Doygie of the home. A special niece Halana Jay, and special nephew Darrin Cisco. Sisters Carol Jay her companion Charlie Nelson, Sandy Jay and her companion Anthony Hainta, Lottie Jay and her companion Matthew Watkins. Her grandchildren Jayden, Steven, Kody, Kyle, Kaydence, Landon, Elias, Laforce III, Jay Wolf, Leeboy, Jadyn, Jachana and numerous nieces and nephews. Aunts Elvina Poolaw, Lavera Birdshead, Melvin Mithlo, Biscuit Mithlo, Harry Mithlo, and Kenneth Chasenah, and extended family from Mescalero, NM. Her high school best friends Lynn Payne Gouge, Sheri Snake Perez, and Jo Ann Pound Meeks.

Alice’s kind heart and generosity will live on through all the lives she touched and all the memories we hold.
