Lawton, Oklahoma Monday, October 04, 2010 September 12, 1948 ~ September 29, 2010 Funeral for Oscar Gonzalez, 62, Lawton, will be at 11 a.m. today at the Comanche Community Center of Apache with Mr. J.T. Goombi officiating. Mr. Gonzalez died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, in Lawton. Burial will be in the Cache Creek Intertribal Cemetery, west of Apache, under direction of Comanche Nation Funeral Home. He was born September 12, 1948, in San Antonio, Texas, to José B. and Germana Tober Gonzalez. He attended school in San Antonio. He had a zest for life and was always in a positive mood. He married Clarice Aitson September 8, 1972, and they moved to Lawton. He joined the Army January 4, 1969. He worked as a field artillery mechanic and retired as a Master Sergeant April 30, 1992. During his service, he received the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, three Overseas Service Bars, four Overseas Service Ribbons, the Army Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, The Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Retired Lapel Button, the Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Bronze Star Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal [7th Award] Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for service in Korea. He worked for 14 years with Bradwell Development. He was a Catholic and enjoyed watching University of Oklahoma football, the Speed network, fishing, taking care of his truck, gardening and being with family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Clarice, of the home; two daughters: Alana Gonzalez and Alyssa Gonzalez; two sons and daughters-in-law: Joseph and Tshante GoingSnake Gonzalez and Daniel and Kristi Gonzalez; 11 grandchildren: Anthony, Alexander, Tito, David, Amaya, Eliana, Thomas, Kassi, Kelsie, Dallas and Dakota; two sisters: Lillie Leach and Merrie Brendle, both of San Antonio, Texas; his mother-in-law, Carol Jean Aitson, Apache and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; three sisters: Olga Day, Olympia Vandififer and Ovila Flores; father-in-law: LaVerne Aitson Sr. and close friend, Alton Caldwell. |
