© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, March 2, 1960 Samuel Carl "Sam" Streun Funeral Services For Sam Streun Will Be Friday Services for Sam Streun, a well-known Carnegie farmer, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the First Christian church with Rev. Wm. E. Harris, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Carnegie cemetery. Streun suffered a heart attack February 8 and had been in the Carnegie hospital since that time. He had been critically ill until death came late Tuesday. He had had surgery twice the past year and had not been well since. He was born August 1, 1899, at Whitewater, Kansas, and moved to Oklahoma in 1907. He had lived in the Mountain View and Carnegie communities most of the time. He was married to Essie Mae Coffey in 1919. Two sons and two daughters were born to them. One son, Ted, a bomber pilot, died January 1, 1945. Streun had been an elder in the Christian church, both at Mountain View and Carnegie for many years. He is survived by his wife of the home, three miles northwest of town; one son, Donald, of Los Angeles; two daughters, Mrs. Jerry Buttry, Wichita, Kans., and Mrs. Leon Chambers, Dill City and two grandchildren. Also surviving him are his father, Fred Streun Sr., Carnegie and 12 brothers and sisters including: Elmer, Modesto, Calif., Fred and George, Oklahoma City; Steve, Midland, Texas; Jack, Hereford, Texas; Ernest, Mountain View; Kurt, Alfalfa; Pete Davis, Okla.; Mrs. Bill House, Joplin, No.; Mrs. Vernon Weaver, Oklahoma City; Mrs. John Weaver, Carnegie; and Mrs. George Wallace, Mountain View. Pallbearers for the services will by Jim Weaver, Orville Morrison, John R. Hicks, James Arthur, Glenn White and Curtis Richards. Honorary bearers will be Bob and Roy Mitchell, T.C. Prickett, Clayton Smith of Tipton, P.N. Holbrook, Ike Toney, Clifford Hawkins, Mountain View, and Sam Evans. |
