© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma November 9, 1955 Flora Etta [Belcher] Simpson Mrs. Simpson Rites Will Be Thursday In Pitcher Chapel Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Pitcher Funeral chapel for Mrs. Elias Simpson, 84, who died late Monday in he home here after an illness of more than six months. She had been seriously ill the past 12 days. Rev. Roy C. Rowlan, pastor of the Methodist church will conduct the services and burial will be in the Carnegie cemetery. Flora Belcher was born in Tauton, Mass., July 18, 1871. She was married to Elias Simpson on Christmas Day, 1887 while still living in he native state. After living in several parts of the United States, Mr. and Mrs. Simpson and family located near Gotebo in 1901 and for the past 35 years have made Carnegie their home, most of the time. She has been a member of the Carnegie Baptist church for more than 30 years. In addition to her husband at the home, Mrs. Simpson is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Bertha Boswell, Waukee, Iowa; Mrs. Hazel Sikes, Chickasha; and Mrs. James Smith, Stoutland, Mo.; and six sons, Clyde of Carnegie; William H. and Herbert, Portersville, Calif.; Clarence, Los Angeles; and Lawrence and Harold, both of Lubbock. Also surviving are 27 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren. |

Simpson; Rites Here Monday George Simpson, 46, livestock dealer, died suddenly of a heart attack at 8 p.m. Friday at his home in Carnegie. He had just returned from a trip south of town where he loaded some cattle and complained of an attack in the country. He died in a few minutes after reaching home. He had suffered several attacks since last February. Services were at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the Baptist church with Rev. Frank Elkins, pastor, officiating. Arrangements were in charge of Pitcher's Funeral Home and burial was in the Carnegie cemetery. George Washington Simpson was born Nov. 21, 1905, at Stuart, Hughes county. At the age of 19 he left his native county to work in the oil fields at Seminole and Oklahoma City and to farm in the Elk City community before coming to Carnegie in 1929. He had made his home here since, engaging in farming and in buying and selling livestock. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Pearl Simpson of the home address; a son, Truman Simpson, of this place; five step-daughters, Mrs. Pat Hooper, Mountain View, and Reta, Anna, Helen and Sharon Miller at home; one brother, Leland Simpson, Snyder, Texas; a sister, Mrs. Edna Renfro, of Chandler, Ariz.; and two grandchildren, Linda and Dudley Simpson. Relatives from a distance here for the funeral were the brother and sister; Ross Miller and Mrs. Irene Anderson, Marlow; W.C. Harrison, Mobeetie, Texas; A.C. and Lee McNutt, Stuart; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Graham, Oklahoma City; Mr. and Mrs. Avery Stevens, Mustang; Mrs. Bobby Stevens, Midwest City; and Mr. and Mrs. Rudell Stevens, Wheatland. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, Feb. 6, 1935 Lillian Irene Simpson Lillian Simpson Passes Away At Parental Home Lillie Irene Simpson was born May 22, 1923 in Ellis county, Okla., died at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Simpson January 25, 1935, aged 11 years, 8 months and 3 days. Funeral services were held in the Baptist church in Carnegie at 3 o'clock by Rev. G.C. Howard. Burial was made in Carnegie cemetery. Besides her parents Lillian is survived by one sister and two brothers, her grandparents on both sides and by other relatives. Lillian Irene was a member of the Baptist Sunday school, in which she took a great interest. She had been in poor health almost a month, and her last desire was to attend Sunday school the following Sunday. |
