© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, July 21, 1948 Thomas H. Simmons Simmons Rites Set For 1:30 Friday in Methodist Church Thos. H. Simmons, 73, a resident of this community for almost 40 years, died in a Carnegie Hospital at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. He had been in extremely bad health for the past two years, suffering from a heart ailment. Services will be in the Methodist church at 1:30 p.m. Friday and burial will be made in the Carnegie cemetery. Rev. Chas. P.D. Mann will conduct the service and the Pitcher Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. Simmons was born in Illinois Feb. 22, 1875. As a boy he move with his parents to Stutgart, Ark.,where thy lived a few years before locating Topeka, Kan. He remained in Topeka for many years where he followed the carpentry trade. In 1909 he came to Carnegie and with his brothers first bought what is known as the L.R. Jones farm south of town. For the past seven years he has made his home here in town. Survivors are his brother, Glenn E. Simmons, Carnegie, and three nieces, Mrs. Thelma Temple, Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Emergene Babcock ad Mrs. Helen Anderson, both of Momouth, Ill. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, Jan. 30, 1946 Loren Daniel "Bill" Simmons L.D. Simmons Dies Suddenly Monday; Masonic Rites Held L.D. "Bill" Simmons, resident of this community the past 35 years, died suddenly from an acute heart attack at the home of his brother, G.E. Simmons, about 1:30 Monday. He had just driven from his home and he and his brother were planning to attend a sale when he was overcome. Final rites were held in the First Methodist church at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon by Rev. Leroy Simmons, pastor. Burial was made in the Carnegie cemetery under the auspices of the Masonic lodge of which organization he was a member. The Pitcher funeral home was in charge of arrangements. Loren Daniel Simmons was born at Youngstown, Ill. November 23, 1884 and was 61 years, 2 months and 5 days of age at the time of his death. He moved to Topeka, Kansas in 1900 and came to Caddo county in 1910 where he farmed south of Carnegie until 1938 when his health failed. He moved to town where he lived until his death his health remaining such that he was seriously ill many times and he was prevented from working or participating in business. Survivors are his three brothers, E.C. Simmons of Tulsa who was here for the funeral, Thomas H. Simmons and Glen E. Simmons of this place, and a niece, Mrs. Geo. Temple of Denver, Colorado. |

Simmons Glen Simmons Funeral Services Are Held Tuesday Funeral services for Glen Simmons, a long-time resident of Carnegie, were held Tuesday at the Church of Christ with Walter Teal officiating. Burial was in the Carnegie cemetery with Pitcher Funeral Home in charge. Simmons, who had been ill for about eight years with heart trouble, died at his home Sunday. He had been seriously ill for the last three days. He was born September 24, 1887, at Springtown, Ill. He was married to Sadie Smith on October 2, 1911, at Hobart. Mr. and Mrs. Simmons moved to Carnegie in 1924 and operated a produce business here for some time. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He is survived by his widow; a niece, Mrs. Thelma Temple of Denver; and a cousin, Mrs. Mary Simmons of Apache, and her two sons, Dan and Dale Simmons, Apache. |

Simmons were held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Christ with Walter Teel, Mountain View, officiating. Burial was in the Carnegie cemetery with Pitcher Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Simmons died early Friday morning after a long illness. Miss Sade Smith was married to Glen Simmons on October 2, 1911, at Hobart. They moved to Carnegie in 1924 where they operated a produce business for some time. He preceded her in death in September, 1959. She is survived by a sister and two brothers, several nieces and nephews. |
