James Madison Sharry

Sharry Rites Set For 2 P.M. Friday In Hydro Church

Jim Sharry of Hydro who was brought to the Carnegie hospital April 4 suffering from a heart attack, died at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Methodist church at Hydro. Rev. Charles Groves, pastor, and rev. L.W. Skaggs of Arapaho will have charge of the services. Burial will be in the Carnegie cemetery.

James M. Sharry was born Aug. 17, 1899, in Texas. His parents moved to New Mexico when he was about 5 years old. He came to Carnegie when he was a young man.

He was married to Chloe Millwee Jan. 25, 1920. They lived in the Prairie Lone community northeast of Carnegie six years, and moved to New Mexico where they lived two years. They returned to Oklahoma and located at Eakly where they lived until 1946 when they moved to their present home east of Hydro.

In addition to his farming operations, Mr. Sharry was a Methodist minister and did evangelistic work in the county for 10 years. His membership is at Hydro.

Survivors are the wife, Mrs. Chloe Sharry of the home; five sons, Cecil J., Cordell; Walter, Colony; Willard and Robert, Oklahoma City, and Kenneth, Hydro; two daughters, Mrs. Irene Simpson, Fort Cobb, and Miss Betty Sharry at home; two brothers, Otis of Weatherford and Dan of Hydro; two sisters, Mrs. James A. Corder, Conroe, Texas, And Mrs. Leonard Talley, Portales, N.M., and his stepmother, Mrs. Vesta Willis, Weatherford. also surviving are 12 grandchildren.

An uncle, Em Propps of Portales, is expected among other relatives here for the funeral.

Alvah Willard Sharry

Alvah Willard Sharry, 88, went to be with the Lord February 8, 2012.

He was born August 17, 1923 to James Madison and Chloe Sharry and was raised in Caddo County. He married Dortha Jewel Wilkinson on March 27, 1942.

He was first and foremost a family man. He also enjoyed skipbo, pool, horses, coon and bird hunting, being a pitcher for the Capitol Hill Freewill Baptist and Wilson Food ball teams. He was an avid gardener; he grew and sold tomatoes and okra from his garden every year. He also took care of the flowers at Charity Freewill Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by his wife Dortha and daughter Carol. Survived by daughters: Barbara and Deborah, son: Darrell, wife: Flois, eleven grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 20 great great grandchildren.
