© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Octobe 30, 1990 Leonard R. Shackelford Services for Leonard R. Shackelford were held Friday, Nov. 2, at the Church of the Nazarene in Carnegie with Rev. Bob Willaims officiating and burial in the Carnegie Cemetery under direction of the Pitcher-Hackney Funeral Home in Carnegie. He was born June 1, 1913 in Nocona, Tex. to Clarence and Mary Poindexter Shackelford. He had lived in the Swan Lake area for many years before moving to Wichita Falls, Tex. five years ago. He entered into rest on Oct. 30, 1990 at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 29 days. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Davis Shackelford of the home; 4 sons, Melvin of Swan Lake Community, Kenneth of Bessie, Jimmy of Jacksonville, Ark., Leonard of Phoenix, Ariz.; 2 brothers, Ray of Carnegie and Bud of Portales, N.M.; one sister, Agnes Jean Sist of Arlington, Tex.; 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mattie Mae in 1981, a son, Bobby Wayne in 1980, and a daughter, Nancy Sue in 1981, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma February 9, 2005 Lucille [King] Shackelford Funeral services for Lucille Shackelford, 78, long time resident of Carnegie, were held Saturday, February 5, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ with Rev. Don Mullican officiating. Lucille was born January 26, 1927 in Pittsburgh to Henry and Ruby [Stinson] King and died Thursday, February 3, 2005 at her home in Carnegie. She was united in marriage to Ray Shackelford on October 10, 1947 at Fort Worth, Texas. He preceded her in death on June 10, 1993. She was a homemaker and loved to spend time with her grandkids. She enjoyed crocheting and being with her family. Lucille was a long time member of the Church of Christ in Carnegie. She is survived by four sons, Bill Shackelford and wife, Doris of Tulsa, Larry Shackelford and wife, Debbie of Oklahoma City, Terry Shackelford and Frankie Shackelford and wife, Cynthia, all of Carnegie; three daughters, Sue Durham and husband, Marshall of Portales, New Mexico, Norman Feletar and husband, Wayne of Carson City, Nevada, Patricia Cantu and husband, Rene of Barstow, California; one daughter-in-law, Earlene Shackelford of Oklahoma City; 18 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray; two sons, Robert and Jimmy Shackelford; one granddaughter, Heidi; three brothers, Fred, Joe and Albert; and two sisters, Lucendy and Luellen. Burial was in the Carnegie Cemetery under the direction of the Pitcher-Hackney Funeral Home in Carnegie. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma April 8, 2011 Melvin Lee Shackelford Melvin Lee Shackelford was born November 24, 1949, in Carnegie Oklahoma to Leonard and Mattie Powers Shackelford. He grew up at Swan Lake and attended Eakly High School where he was Valedictorian of the class of 1968. After High School he joined the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam from August 27, 1969 to August 21, 1970 as a Field Radio Operator/Radio Telephone Operator. His Awards include the Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, Vietnam Service Medal w/3 Stars, and the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallentry w/Palm & Frame. After returning home, he began a career at 3M Corporation in Weatherford, retiring as a Supervisor after more then 30 years. He enjoyed Hunting, Fishing, OU Football, and just driving the countryside. Melvin passed away on April 8, 2011 in Bessie Oklahoma after a long battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Ruben and Mattie May Powers Shackelford, His brother Bobby Shackelford and his sister Nancy Sue Shackelford Klein. Melvin is survived by three brothers Leonard Olen Shackelford, Kenneth Earl Shackelford of Bessie Oklahoma, and Jimmy Clyde Shackelford and wife Carol of Fayetteville, North Carolina. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma May 21, 1998 Jimmy Lee Shackelford Funeral services for Jimmy Lee Shackelford, 42, of Carnegie will be held Friday, May 22, at 2:00 p.m. in the Nazarene Church of Carnegie with Don Mullican and Rev. Jerry Tate officiating. Shackelford died May 17, 1998 at Carnegie. He was born May 6, 1956 in Carnegie to Ray Franklin and Lucille Shackelford. He was a 1974 graduate of Carnegie High school. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Carnegie and had worked in oil field for several years. Survivors include one son, Jimmy RaeLee Shackelford of North Carolina; his mother, Lucille Shackelford of Carnegie; four brothers, William Ray of Broken Arrow, Larry and Frankie, both of Carnegie and terry Shackelford of Mt. View; three sisters, Ruth Durham of Taos, N.M., Norma Feletar of Carson City, Nevada and Patricia Cantu of Ft. Erwin California. Preceding him in death were his father in 1993; one brother, Robert and one niece Heidi Shackelford. Burial will be in Carnegie Cemetery under the direction of Carnegie-Gragg-Smith Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers include: Steven "Stubb" Holsted, Jimmy Head, Ike Poor, Gary Baker, Marty Baker, Happy Leatherbury. Honorary pallbearers: Pete Leatherbury, Danny Clinton, Johnnie Clinton, Rannie Luther, and Ronnie Ross. |
