© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, June 20, 1945 Rev Marion Clinton Scrudder Rev. M.C. Scrudder, Minister-Farmer, Passes Away Sunday Rev. M.C. Scrudder well known Presbyterian minister and farmer in this community the past 20 years, died at his home northwest of town Sunday. He had been in failing health a number of years and was seriously ill the past seven months. Coming to Oklahoma in 1921 he was pastor of the church at Sulphur, Tecumseh and Rocky before coming to the Mount Vernon church northwest of Carnegie in 1923, where he was pastor almost continuously for 12 years. Since that time he has been pastor at Boggy church and organized the church at Alden. It was during his pastorate in 1925 that the Mt. Vernon church was built at its present location. Funeral services were held at Mt. Vernon at 2:30 Wednesday and burial was made in the Carnegie cemetery under direction of the Pitcher funeral home. Elders of the churches at Rocky, Boggy and Mt. Vernon were bearers. Rev. Elmer Kelley of Burns Flat conducted the service assisted by the pastor, Rev. George Bishop. Marion Clinton Scrudder was born near Prairieview, Ark. on April 26, 1889. He was married to Marie Caroline Trusty in October, 1912 and to them six children were born, two of whom preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife and children, Marion Normagene and Norland David at home; Norris R., Carnegie and Mrs. Novadell Barton of McAlester, and five grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Osie Harris, Subiaco, Ark. and three brothers, Rev. H.H. Scrudder, Booneville, Ark., R.L. of Pittsburg, Texas and H.A. of Maizy were here for the funeral. Three brothers, J.R. of Paris, Ark., D.S. of Subiaco and B.S. who lives in California, could not be present. Mrs. Ollie Sewell and Mrs. Raymond Plumblee of Cordell were among the many friends from other communities who attended the funeral. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma September 15, 2004 Marie Ethel [Grubb] Scrudder Funeral services for Marie Ethel Scrudder, 85, of Carnegie will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at the Church of the Nazarene in Carnegie with Rev. Chip Perkins and Rev. Norlan Scrudder officiating. Marie was born April 12, 1919 in Mountain View to Vance and Jessie [Peoples] Grubb and died Sunday, September 12, 2004 at the corn heritage Village in corn. She married Norris Roshell Scrudder on August 25, 1937 in Washita County. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1992. Her love for family was very important in her life. She and her husband were avid square dancers and loved to associate with the many friends in the square dance circles as well as their friends in the community. Marie's hobbies' included cooking and quilting. She was a homemaker and attended the Church of the Nazarene in Carnegie. She is survived by two sons, Max Scrudder and wife, Ann of Carnegie and Joe Scrudder and wife, Nelda of Edmond; three daughters, Gwenette Wright and husband, Don of Belle Vista, Arkansas, Dana Rudder and husband, Butch of Anadarko and Corena Richardson and husband, Ross of Hobart; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; three sisters, Velma Davis of Mountain View, Lillie Smith of Midwest City and Winona Combest of Mountain View. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norris Scrudder; two sister, Leota Clifton and Evelyn Owens and one brother, John Grubb. Burial will be in the Carnegie Cemetery under the direction of the Pitcher -Hackney Funeral Home in Carnegie. |
