© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, April 21, 1926 Edward Bernhardt Schwab E.B. Schwab, Pioneer, Died Here Monday E.B. Schwab, pioneer settler of this community, died at his home here at one o'clock Monday night after a lingering illness of several months caused by kidney trouble. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. W.A.R. Lovell, minister of the Christian church will conduct the services. Interment will be made in the Carnegie cemetery under the auspices of the Carnegie Odd Fellow ledge. Pitcher & Pitcher, funeral directors, have charge of the body. Mr. Schwab came to this country at the opening and settled on his farm northeast of Carnegie where he became known as a progressive farmer and a successful business man. He was a charter member and an active organizer of the Farmers Cooperative association here. For the past three years he has worked for the association as manager of the elevator and engineer at the gin. The family moved to Carnegie two years ago. His brother, Vick Schwab of El Reno came in Tuesday and a sister, Mrs. Robert Kellar of Cape Girardeau, Mo. arrived today to attend the funeral. In his immediate family he is survived by his wife and two sons. © Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma The Carnegie Herald, Wed., April 28, 1926 Edward Bernhardt Schwab Edward Bernhardt Schwab was born at Cape Girardeau, Missouri December 4, 1873 and died at his home in Carnegie, Oklahoma April 20, 1926 aged 52 years, 4 months and 15 days. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church by Rev. W.A.R. Lovell, minister of the Christian church at 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon and interment was made in the Carnegie cemetery under the auspices of the Carnegie Odd Fellow lodge attended by one of the largest processions in the history of the town. He was married December 21, 1904 to Adelia Hoelscher and to this union two sons were born: Paul and Raymond. He was instructed in Bible and confirmed and was taken into the Evangelical church in 1889. He was anxious to stay with his family, but he said if he could not, "Let the Lord's will be done, I am ready to go." Mr. Schwab came to Oklahoma a short time before the opening of the country in 1900 and settled on a farm ten miles northeast of Carnegie and lived in the community continuously until the family moved to town two years ago to give the boys the advantage of the Carnegie schools. He is survived his wife, two sons, four sisters, three brothers and two half-brothers. Relatives who came from a distance to attend the funeral were: Mrs. Robert Keller, Cape Girardeau, Mo.; Mrs. Wm. Feuerhahn, Dutchtown, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Schwab, El Reno; and Mr. and Mrs. E.B. Carlisle and daughter, Weatherford; Herman Hoelscher and sons and Mrs. Hoelscher of near Oney. |
