© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma May 31, 1951 Marshall B. Schlegel M.B. Schlegel Dies In Texas Hospital; Rites Here Sunday Marshal B. Schlegel, 59, died in the veterans hospital at McKinney, Texas, Thursday. he had been in failing health for two years. He was in Will Rogers hospital, Oklahoma City, two weeks and was transferred to McKinney six weeks ago. Services were at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Christian church with Rev. Harry Hubbard, minister, officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Brodace Elkins. Pitcher's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Carnegie cemetery. Marshall B. Schlegel was born May 9, 1892 at Shelton, Neb. When he was 10 years old his parents moved to a farm south of Mountain View where he grew to manhood. He enlisted in the army Aug. 29, 1918, in Oklahoma City and was discharged Dec. 21, 1918. He was on the boat in New York Harbor ready to sail when the armistice was signed. He was married to Alice Atchison Sept. 3, 1919, in Miami, Fla. They farmed on the Kindblade place south of Carnegie and in 1927 bought a farm in the Dixie community, 11 miles south and two west of Carnegie. they moved to Carnegie in 1936 and have lived here since. After coming to Carnegie Schlegel engaged in carpenter work and for three years worked for the Rinehart & Donavan construction company. He was a member of the American Legion. He joined the Methodist church when a small boy and later joined the Nazarene church. Survivors are the wife, Mrs. Alice M. Schlegel (Atchison), of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Imogene Dukes, Lawton; a son, Marvin, Huntington park, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Laura Butler, Yardly, Pa.; a brother, Harvey, of this place, and three grandchildren. Friends and relatives from a distance who were here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Hayden Atchison, Midland, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Walker, Tulsa; Mr. and Mrs. E.M. Smith, Cleveland; Mr. and Mrs. Morris Sturgis, Enid; Mrs. Bertie Nixon, Chickasha; Joe McDonald, Anadarko; Mrs. Ed Mallang (Mary Elizibeth Schlegel)of Oklahoma City, and Mr. and Mrs. Willard Schlegel, Elgin. |

She married Harley Edwin Schlegel on December 29, 1908, in Kiowa, Oklahoma. They had four children in 15 years. She died on June 1, 1979, in Carnegie, Oklahoma, at the age of 89, and was buried in Carnegie Cemetery, Carnegie, OK |
