© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma November 24, 1948 Rudolph Cleveland Schaefer Heart Attack Proves Fatal To Schaefer Rites for R.C. Schaefer, 62, Carnegie real estate and loan dealer, were at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the First Baptist church. He died in the Wesley hospital in Oklahoma City late Thursday after suffering a severe heart attack in his home two weeks ago. Born in Illinois, Schaefer came with his parents to Oklahoma and located at Old Mountain View in 1899. Later he located in Hobart where he lived about 12 years, a part of which time he served as postmaster. He was married to Miss Jane May Kindel in Hobart April 7, 1910. They have six children. Mr. and Mrs. Schaefer came to Carnegie in 1920 where they have since made their home, and where he was identified with the development of the town. He was a Mason and a past worthy patron of the Order of Eastern Star. Rev. Harry O. Hubbard, pastor of the First Christian church, conducted the services and assisting him was Rev. Frank Elkins, Baptist pastor, Masonic services were conducted at the graveside in the Carnegie cemetery. The Pitcher Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Survivors include the wife, Mrs. May Jane Schaefer, at the home, and six children, Rudolph K. Schaefer, Washington, D.C.; William A. Schaefer, New London, Texas; Charles H. Schaefer, Miami, Fla.; Mrs. Virginia Ann Jackson, Baytown, Texas; Mrs. Margaret Alice Carter, Seattle, Wash.; and Mrs. Helen Jane Clarke, Richmond, Va., also nine grandchildren, all of whom were present for the service. Other survivors include four sisters, Miss Hedwig Schaefer, Norman; Mrs. Gertrude McBride, Mountain View; Miss Norma Schaefer, Milwaukee, Wis., and Miss Helen Schaefer, Jacksonville, Fla., and two brothers, Henry S. Schaefer, Tulsa, and Albert R. Schaefer, Lawton. Miss Helen Schaefer was unable to attend the final rites. Other relatives and friends from a distance here for the service were Miss Jessie Kindel, Oklahoma City; Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Cox and family, Tecumseh; Mrs. Henry Schaefer, Tulsa; Mrs. A.R. Schaefer, Lawton; Dr. and Mrs. Jno. S. Rollins, Prague; Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Cuppy, Hobart; Harry Wagner and granddaughter,m Hobart; Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Littlejohn, Tuttle; Carol Littlejohn, Clinton; Mrs. Ed Campbell, Mountain View; John H. Clarke, Richmond, Va.; Jas. E. Carter, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. R.K. Schaefer, Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Wm. A. Schaefer, New London, Texas.; and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Haley of Mountain View. Mrs. Chas. H. Schaefer, Miami, Fla., could not come here for the service. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, December 16, 1964 Jane Mae [Kindel] Schaefer Funeral Services For Mrs. Schaefer Are Held Tuesday Funeral services for Mrs. R.C. Schaefer, a resident of Carnegie since 1930, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church. Rev. Neal M. Lovell, pastor, officiated and interment was in the Carnegie cemetery with Pitcher Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Schaefer had been in failing health several months. She had gone to Texas last summer to be near some of her children and later had entered a rest home at LaPorte. She died December 11 at Pasadena, Texas. Jane May Kindel was born February 17, 1889, to D.R. and Virginia Lee [Calvert] Kindel at Weatherford, Texas, one of a family of five children. In 1908 she was married to Rudolph Cleveland Schaefer at Hobart. three sons and three daughters were born to them. She and her family moved to Carnegie in 1920, where she continued to make her home until the past summer. She was a member of the First Christian Church and of the Order of the Eastern Star here. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1948 and by a son, Charles Henry in 1963. Surviving her are two sons, Rudolph Kindel Schaefer, Miami, Fla. and William A. Schaefer, Houston; three daughters, Virginia Ann Jackson, Baytown, Texas, Margaret Carter, Fort Worth, and Helen Clarke, Richmond, Va.; Two sisters, Jessie Kindel, Oklahoma City and Gertrude Cox, Lebanon, Nebraska; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren and other relatives. Pallbearers at the services were Emery Fulk, David Reed, Huston Cox, Carl Johnson, Ben Kuhn and John Cowan and honorary bearers were Abe Grad, Frank Grad, Jake Thomas, H.P. Anderson, Toby Jones, W.F. Taylor, George Reed, Neill Moore, Roy Thornton and Earl Kelly. Mrs. Woodrow Wilson and Mrs. Orville smith sang "rock of Ages" and "In the Garden," accompanied by Miss Cathy Ewalt, organist. |
