Gene Sawyer

Funeral services for Gene Sawyer, 90, of Carnegie will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the United Methodist Church in Carnegie with Rev. Steve Littrell officiatiating.

He was born to A. O. and Ethel MILLER Sawyer, April 18, 1922 in Fort Cobb and died Monday, April 23, 2012 at his residence.

Gene attended Fort Cobb school and graduated in 1938. He also attended school at Oklahoma State University where he received his degree in Agriculture.

After serving in the United states Navy, he returned to Carnegie where he taught a Veterans Agriculture class at Carnegie High school.

He met and married the love of his life, Dorothy Bess Rodrick and they were married November 29, 1947 in Carnegie. From this union three children were born.

Gene served on local conservation boards. He served as the state president of OACD and was on the Carnegie Rural Water board from it very beginning.

Gene was a member of the United Methodist Church in Carnegie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Nancy Sawyer Clayton; two brothers, Dale Sawyer and Glenn Sawyer; and one sister Evelyn Jackson.

Survivors include his wife, Sally Sawyer of the home; one son, Mike Sawyer and wife Susan of Lawton; one daughter Dee Anne Heath of Edmond; son-in-law John Clayton of Edmond; six grandchildren, Matt and Amy Sawyer, Joshua and Michele Sawyer, Jayson Heath, Zachary Heath, Diane Brown and David Clayton; two great grandchildren, Bella Sawyer and Aiden Brown.

Burial will follow at the Carnegie Cemetery under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home of Carnegie.

George M. Sawyer

Funeral services for George M. Sawyer, 78, of Oklahoma City were held Friday, August 28, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pitcher-Hackney funeral Chapel with Rev. Billy S. Jones officiating.

George was born April 16, 1924 in Lynn, Massachusetts to George and Anna Sawyer, Sr. and died Wednesday, August 28, 2002 at his home in Oklahoma City.

He married Neva on August 9, 1945 in Oklahoma City.

He was a member of the American Legion and also a Mason.

He retired from the G.M. Plant as an auto assembler.

George enjoyed working with his hands and he loved to do yard work.

He was a family man and loved his family very much. He was a great care taker to his wife until her death in June 2002.

He is survived by five daughters, Marina Stroud of Wichita, Kansas, Judy Breadwell of Oklahoma City, Lucy McClennan of Wichita Kansas, Selina McMahon of Oklahoma City, Marie Sawyer of Oklahoma City; one son, George Sawyer III of Livermore, California; one brother, Calvin Saumty of Oklahoma city; 30 plus grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Neva, two brothers Calvin East and Richard Dean Sawyer.

Burial was in the Carnegie Cemetery under the direction of the Pitcher-Hackney Funeral Home in Carnegie.

Neva C. [Cody] Sawyer

Graveside services for Neva C. Sawyer, 81, of Oklahoma City will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Carnegie Cemetery with Rev. Billy Jones officiating.

Prayer services were held Tuesday evening June 18 at 7:00 p.m. at the Pitcher-Hackney Funeral Home Chapel in Carnegie.

Neva was born January 29, 1921 in Carnegie to Albert Cody and Lucy Saumty~Cody and died Monday, June 17, 2002 at her home in Oklahoma City. She grew up in Carnegie and graduated school at Riverside Indian School in Anadarko. She moved to Oklahoma city in the early 1940's.

Neva was a member of the Kiowa War Mothers, Eastern Star, Kiowa Tribe and the Kiowa Election Board.

She married George Sawyer on August 9, 1945 in Oklahoma City. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed very much.

she is survived by her husband, George of the home; one son, George Sawyer III, of Livermore, California; five daughters, Merina Stoud of Wichita, Kansas, Judith Bridwell of Oklahoma city, Lucy Sawyer of Wichita, Kansas, Selena McMahon and Marie Sawyer, both of Oklahoma City; one brother, Calvin Saumty of Oklahoma City; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of many loving friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Richard Sawyer and Calvin East; two brothers, Clarence Pipestem and Robert Saumty; one sister, Alice Ruth Saumty.

Services were under the direction of the Pitcher-Hackney Funeral Home in Carnegie.

Richard Dean Sawyer

Carnegie--Services for Richard Dean Sawyer, 40, of Oklahoma City were to be at 2 p.m. today at the Cedar Creek Methodist Church in Carnegie with the Rev. Spencer Ahpeahtone and the Rev. Melvin Boyiddle officiating.

Sawyer was born Jan. 19, 1950 in Lawton and died Saturday in Oklahoma City. He moved from Tucson, Ariz., to Oklahoma two months ago.

Survivors include his parents, George and Neva Sawyer of Oklahoma City; three daughters, Lisa Marie Sawyer of Richmond, Calif., Gina Sawyer of Chandler and Angela Sawyer of Tucson; two brothers, Calvin East and George Sawyer, both of Livermore, Calif., and five sisters, Merina Stroud of Wichita, Kan., and Judy Bridwell, Lucy McClellan, Selena McMahon and Marie Sawyer, all of Oklahoma City.

Burial was to be in the Carnegie Cemetery under direction of the Pitcher-Hackney Funeral Home.
