Charles Lewis Ligon
May 11, 1923 - January 19, 2021


Charles L. Ligon age 97, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2021 at Alliance Health Hospital in Midwest City, Ok.

Charles was born on May 11, 1923 to Loyd H. Ligon Sr. and Susie McAlester Ligon.

Charles lived a rich full life, serving as a founding member and Deacon at Del City Church of Christ, serving his community as the Manager for the Meals on Wheels Program at Del City Church of Christ for several decades as well as serving his country in the U.S. Navy until his honorable discharge due to health reasons.

After 31 ½ years of service as a civil servant, Charles retired from working as a scheduler for KC 135 Aircraft at Tinker Air Force Base.

Charles met and married the love of his life of 64 years, Joyce Ligon, until her death in 2009. They made their life-long home in Midwest City, Ok raising their two daughters, Peggy Williams and Patsy Sanders.

Charles was preceded in death by his loving wife, Edna Joyce Ligon, his parents Loyd and Susie, his brothers George Ligon and Loyd "Bud" Ligon Jr., his sisters Edith Scott, Marie Mynat, and Billie Joe Gilliam, two sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, one son-in-law and one great great-grandson.

Charles is survived by his daughters Peggy and Patsy, eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and five great great-grandchildren.

Edna Joyce [Punneo] Ligon
November 17, 1924 - November 15, 2009


Born November 17, 1924, to Jim and Edna Punneo at their family farm Northeast of Carnegie, Oklahoma. Died November 15, 2009, two days short of her 85th birthday.

Joyce attended and graduated from Carnegie Public Schools.

After graduation she moved to Oklahoma City and started work at Tinker Air Force Base, where Charles was working at Douglass Aircraft Plant.

Charles met Joyce at Carnegie and they were married October 27, 1945. They recently celebrated their 64th Anniversary. They made their lifelong home in Midwest City, where they raised two daughters, Peggy and Patsy.

Joyce and Charles are both charter members of the Del City Church of Christ, where Charles serves as Deacon. Joyce is preceded in death by her father James Thomas Punneo, mother Edna Punneo [Adair], stepmother, three brothers and sister-in-laws from the Punneo Family, and father and mother-in-law and three sister-in-laws and three brother-in-laws, from the Ligon Family, and one son-in-law, Frank Williams.

Joyce is survived by; her husband, Charles Lewis Ligon, two daughters, Peggy Williams of Lincoln, Alabama, and Patsy Sanders of Midwest City, 8 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Joyce was a homemaker and loved to cook, sew, make ceramics, and quilt. She was also the Punneo Family historian, working on the family genealogy for several years.

Services will be held Thursday November 19, 2009 at Del City Church of Christ under the direction of Ford Funeral Service.
