Fanning Dies After Lingering Illness Oliver Fanning died at his home near Carnegie Thursday after suffering with a cancer on his lower jaw for several years. Mr. Fanning kept up his regular work until only a few months ago, displaying an optimism that was amazing. He consulted numerous authorities and kept up a persistent fight against the malady until the last illness. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W.A.R. Lovell at the Christian church Friday afternoon, and interment was made in the Carnegie cemetery. Oliver Miller Fanning was born February 21, 1886, in Morgan county, Illinois, died at his home near Carnegie March 6, 1924, at the age of 38 years and 14 days. He moved with his parents to Monkstown, when he was 9 years old. He was united in marriage to Nettie Anderson in 1906. To this union were born two sons, M.B. and Omer, both of whom with the mother survive. Mr. Fanning moved to Carnegie with his family in 1908, and has since made his home here. He was converted to the Christian religion in 1918, and united with the Church of Christ in 1923. Besides the immediate family, Mr. Fanning is survived by his mother, Mrs. A.E. Fanning, who now lives in California; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Fee, Waterloo, Iowa, and Mrs. Susie Cummins, California; and five brothers, Rube, Charles and Adlai of this place, and Tullie of Santa Fe.
