Crumm Funeral Is Held Saturday

Funeral services for J.W. Crumm, who died Saturday in a local hospital, were held at 2 p.m. Monday from the Methodist church, with Rev. Roy Rowlan, pastor, officiating. Assisting with the services was Rev. C.L. Martin of Alfalfa.

Mr. Crumm had made his home in the Alfalfa community from 1934 to 1939, when he moved to Carnegie.

He was born on May 8, 1875, in Lichin, Mo. He moved to Texas when a young boy, and later, as a young man, came to Bennington, Okla., where he was united in marriage to Miss Gertie Sain on December 25, 1900.

He was a member of the Methodist church.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Gertie Crumm of Carnegie; one daughter, Mrs. Opal Bailey of Pocassett, Okla.; two sons, Dewey Crumm of Alfalfa, and Woodrow Crumm of Wichita, Kans.; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jack Crumm, of Norge, Okla. Pallbearers were: Joe Scott, Ernest Howl, Guy Hockman, Charlie Berkley, Ray Patterson and Charles Reid.

Gertrude Anna "Gertie Ann" [Sain] Crumm
July 13, 1879 ~ February 3, 1966


Funeral services for Mrs. J.W. Crumm, Chickasha, a former Carnegie resident for several years, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Brown Funeral chapel in Chickasha with Rev. Jim Ramsey officiating. Interment was in the Carnegie cemetery.

Mrs. Crumm died in the Chickasha hospital Thursday, February 3, following a sudden heart attack.

Gertie Ann Sain was born July 13, 1879, in Tennessee.

She was married to J.W. Crumm on December 25, 1900, at Bennington, Okla. They moved to Grady county in 1903 and later to Caddo county where they lived many years in the Alfalfa and Carnegie communities.

Mr. Crumm and two children preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Methodist church.

Her survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Homer Bailey of Chickasha; one son, Woodrow.
