Brewington of this place, was killed instantly in an automobile wreck near the Y east of Ft. Cobb Monday morning. Miss Berthalene Brumley died from injuries early Wednesday morning, and her sister, Miss Annabelle, received severe injuries. Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Brumley and their six-months-old baby, also occupants of the car, escaped injury. The six persons all occupied the driver's seat of the Ford roadster in which they were riding. Annabelle sat on Brumley's lap and was driving. Mrs. Brumley and the baby occupied the middle of the seat, and Mildred sat on Berthalene's lap on the right side of the car. Annabelle started to drive around a truck which was ahead of them and upon meeting a car attempted to drop behind the truck to avoid a collision. The speed of the car was so much faster than the truck that it could not be brought under control and crashed into the truck. The Brumley sisters are cousins of Mrs. Burl Weaver. Berthalene attend school here one semester two years ago. They had been visiting relatives at Mountain View and were returning to their home at Stratford. Mildred was accompanying them home for a visit. Mildred's head was crushed and she was cut and bruised badly. Berthalene suffered concussion of the brain, and her right arm was nearly severed. She never regained consciousness after the accident. Funeral services for Mildred were held at the Christian church at 10 o'clock Wednesday and burial was in the Carnegie cemetery. Rev. W.A.R. Lovell was assisted by Rev. R.I. Graham in conducting the service. Mildred Neola Brewington was born Sept. 6, 1916, south of Carnegie, died Feb. 19, 1934, aged 17 years, 5 months and 13 days.
