W.T. Bratton Rites Wednesday at 2:30, Methodist Church

Services for W.T. Bratton were at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Methodist church. Rev. M.J. Kersten, pastor of the Nazarene church, preached the sermon and was assisted by Rev. Brodace Elkins, pastor of the Methodist church. Pitcher Funeral Home was in charge of arrangement and burial was in the Carnegie cemetery.

Mr. Bratton died at 4:45 p.m. Monday in the Carnegie hospital. He had been in poor health, several years and in failing health since an attack of influenza last December.

William Thomas Bratton was born December 16, 1873, at Marshall, Ark.

He was married to Minnie Piersall March 16, 1894, at Western Grove, Ark. They came to Oklahoma in 1906 and located in the Alden community. Later they lived west of town two years before moving to their farm southwest of Alfalfa where they farmed until they moved to Carnegie to make their home in 1945.

Survivors are the wife, Mrs. Minnie Bratton of the home; a daughter, Mrs. H.D. Newton of this place; a brother, Ivey Bratton, and a sister, Mrs. Nancy O'Daniel, both of Wirt, Okla. Five grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive. Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Bratton and Charles O'Daniel of Wirt, Mrs. Clay Austin, McAlester; Mrs. E.L. Wright, Wilson; Mr. and Mrs. V.A. Anderson, Sulphur, and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Graham, Oklahoma City.

Bratton Rites Held June 13

Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie B. Bratton, pioneer resident of the Carnegie area, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at the Pitcher Funeral chapel with Rev. E.T. Cooprider, Methodist minister, officiating. Interment was in the Carnegie cemetery. Mrs. Bratton died Monday, June 11, at the Carnegie Nursing Home where she had been a resident the past five years.

Mrs. Bratton was born March 28, 1878, in Western Grove, Ark.

She was married to William Thomas Bratton, March 16, 1894. They came to Oklahoma in 1906, settling in the Alden community. One daughter was born to them. Later they moved west of Carnegie and then to a farm southwest of Alfalfa. In 1945 her husband retired and they moved to Carnegie. She had been a member of the United Methodist church since 1966.

Her husband preceded her in death about 20 years ago and the daughter, Mrs. Stella Newton, died in 1966.

She is survived by two grandsons, Clifford Newton of Woodbury, N.J., and Jess Newton of Carnegie; three granddaughters, Miss Gladys Marie Newton of North Hollywood, Calif., Mrs. Wanda Anderson of Oklahoma City, and Mrs. Wilda Johnson of Hickory, N.C.; nine great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
