© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, October 20, 1971 Jessie Rozzell Thornton Bishop 1888 ~ 1971 Funeral services for Mrs. Jessie C. Bishop, longtime Caddo county resident, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the local First Baptist church. Mrs. Bishop died Sunday at the local hospital, where she had been a patient the past two months. She was born August 24, 1888, at Bentonville, Ark., and was married to the late Charley R. Thornton on September 9, 1924 at Dennison, Texas. She was married to Elby Bishop on July 16, 1945, who preceded her in death in 1966. She lived at Anadarko from 1912 to 1926 when the family moved to Carnegie. She was a member of the First Baptist church. Survivors include four sons, Preston, Jesse and Roy Thornton of Carnegie, and Elvin Thornton of Cement; five grandsons, 13 granddaughters, and 19 great-grandchildren. Rev. Bill Dickover, pastor, and Rev. Jimmie Weston, Alfalfa, officiated at the funeral services. Interment was at the Carnegie cemetery under the direction of the Pitcher Funeral Home. © Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, December 23, 1936 Lavada Early Foreman Bishop 1900 ~ 1936 Mrs. Bishop Buried Sunday Afternoon Funeral services were held at the First Baptist church Sunday afternoon for Mrs. E.P. Bishop who died Saturday at her home east of town. Garland C. Howard preached the sermon and burial was made in the Carnegie cemetery. She was 38 years, 2 months and 5 days of age at the time of her death. Mrs. Bishop was born October 14, 1898 in LaSalle county, Texas. She was married to Elmer P. Bishop in Young county, Texas July 24, 1915 and to them six children were born. They are Etta Lorena who died in infancy; Mrs. Nirene Cole, and Carrol, R L., Ruth and Ruby Bishop. She was converted and joined the Baptist church at Samone in 1924 and remained a faithful member until her death. Other relatives include two sisters, Mrs. Bee Dorman, Borger, Texas, and Mrs. Beulah Hill, Carnegie, and a brother, Roy Forman, La Mesa, Texas and many other relatives and friends.
