© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, August 2, 1974 Hattie Clifford [McGehee] Bell 1884 ~ 1981 90 PLUS CLUB Hattie Clifford McGhee Bell is 90, born April 20, 1884 near Martinsville, Va. She was nine when the Irish McGhees came west to Texas where they lived eight years before locating at Chickasha, Indian Territory in 1901. She was valedictorian of her Chickasha high school class in 1905. She visited friends at the new town of Carnegie where she met and married Melvin L. Bell in 1906. They first farmed on Gawkey Creek but soon bought the home place 6 1/2 miles southeast of Carnegie. She has lived in town the past few years, but hops in and goes out to the farm every time the car starts. She wanted to go to the Carnegie rodeo or any place where the action is. Hattie Clifford [McGehee] Bell April 20, 1884 ~ February 24, 1981 February 25, 1981 Hattie Clifford [McGehee] Bell 1884 ~ 1981 Carnegie-Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie Bell, 96, who died Tuesday morning in a Carnegie nursing home, will be held at 3 p.m. today in the United Methodist Church in Carnegie. The Rev, Austin Bizzell, former pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Carnegie under the direction of Pitcher Funeral Home. Mrs. Bell was born April 20, 1884, in Virginia. She was married to Melvin Bell; he died in December of 1950. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Carnegie, and a member of the 90 Plus Club. Survivors include her daughter, Marietta Field, Carnegie; her son, Loyal J. Bell, Mangum; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
