© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, March 20, 1946 Arthur Clarence Barton 1880 ~ 1946 Arthur Clarence "A.C." Barton, 65, well known farmer of south of town, died at his home Saturday after a brief illness. An 89'er, Mr. Barton had come with his parents to Cleveland county and located near Moore. Ten years ago he located on his farm south of town where he has since lived. He led a very active life, managing an independent threshing outfit for 40 years. He drove his own car and managed his machinery even to he has been unable to walk since 1931. Services were held at the Methodist church here Monday afternoon by Rev. Leroy Simmons, pastor, and burial was made in the Carnegie cemetery under the direction of the Pitcher Funeral home. Arthur Clarence Barton was born in Macon county, Mo., May 17, 1880. After coming to Oklahoma he met and married Miss Dellaphene Shade in 1906 and to them five children were born. He was converted and joined the Methodist church in early life and for many years was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge. Survivors are his widow, and their children, Arthur L. Barton, Ft. Cobb, Rt. 3; Mrs. Almeda Keller, Mountain View; Mrs. Beatrice Roland, Moore; Russell Barton, Yukon; and Mrs. Norma Dean Dyer of Carnegie. Also a sister and two brothers, Mrs. Ed Barkley and Sidney J. and Albert F. Barton all of Oklahoma City and eight grandchildren as well as many other close relatives and friends both here and at Moore, his former home. Arthur Clarence Barton May 17, 1880 ~ March 16, 1946 |
