© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, May 1, 1946 Seth Linden Bacon 1871 ~ 1946 Seth Linden Bacon, well known Carnegie man and an Oklahoma resident for more than 50 years, died at his home northwest of town at midnight, Friday night, April 26. He had been in failing health for some time and had undergone a major operation about two weeks ago. Rev. Bert Miller, Pentecostal pastor, conducted funeral services at the Pitcher chapel Sunday afternoon and burial was made in the Carnegie cemetery. Seth Linden Bacon, was born Jan, 21, 1871, at Valparaiso, Ind. He lived in Kansas for a time before coming to Watonga where he lived four or five years and came on to locate in Mountain View about 1889 where he was in the real estate business. About 1901 he with his father and two brothers, John and Bern, settled on the school section a mile and a half northwest of town, some of which he still owns. After coming to Carnegie for a time he dealt in real estate and at one time he and a brother owned and operated a large wagon yard where the Farmers Co-op elevator and gin now stands. He was married to Mrs. Jessie Thornton of Anadarko in 1939. Survivors include his wife at home, one brother, John Bacon in California, five step-sons, Preston, Elvin, R.B., Jesse and Roy Thornton, as well as other relatives.
