© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, August 14, 1929 Myrtle [Bowling] Angel 1879 ~ 1929 Mrs. William Angel died at Hot Springs Saturday following an accident of the Saturday before in which both legs were broken below the hips. Mrs. Angel has been in poor health for more than a year, and was at Hot Springs taking treatment. Her fatal accident was attributed to bone disease, the bones suddenly giving way and crumbling like chalk. She was unconscious most of the time after the accident until her death. The body was returned here for burial in the Carnegie cemetery. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W.A. R. Lovell, assisted by N. Ferd Engle, at the Christian church Monday at 3 p.m. Myrtle Bowling was born at Whitesboro, Texas, August 9, 1879, died August 10, 1929 aged 50 years and 1 day. She came to Oklahoma in 1894. She was united in marriage to Wm. Angel December 19, 1896. To this union four daughters and one son were born; Mrs. Florence Angel Wilkins, Richmond, Va.; Edna Mays, Chickasha; and Fountain Harris, Lucille and Louise who live here. Mr. Angel died January 17, 1927. Mr. and Mrs. Angel were pioneer settlers in the Cheyenne country northwest of Carnegie, later moving from the farm to Carnegie where Mr. Angel went into the mercantile business. Each was identified with the civic activities of the town until his and her death. Mrs. Angel was an active member of the Christian church and the Eastern Star.
