Emily Ruth [Chambers] Ambler
1900 ~ 1933

Mrs. Ruth Ambler died at Chickasha Thursday morning where she, with her mother, Mrs. C.H. Chambers, had been staying during a series of treatments for Mrs. Ambler. Death came rather suddenly following ill health of several years.

Two years ago Mrs. Ambler spent several months in New Mexico and returned home in splendid health. Her health again failed in recent months.

Funeral services were held at the Christian church Saturday morning at 10:30, Rev. W.S. Deatherage, pastor of the church officiating. He was assisted by Rev. R. I. Graham. Burial was made in the Carnegie cemetery.

Emily Ruth Chambers was born March 22, 1900 in Wichita, Kansas, died June 1, 1933 aged 33 years, 2 months and 10 days. She came to Carnegie with her parents in 1902, and has lived here practically all her life.

After graduating from the Carnegie highschool she attended the Lindsborg Musical Conservatory at Lindsborg, Kansas and later taught voice and piano. A devoted Christian, she gave much time to school and church activities. Plays, entertainments and programs of every description demanded her talents and direction. As choir leader, member of orchestras, director of concerts, she was always occupied. It was as a vocal soloist that she exceeded her other musical accomplishments.

She was married to Lonnie L. Ambler in 1921. To this union a son and a daughter were born,m Harold and Doris, both of whom survive. She is also survived by her parents, Mr and Mrs C. H. Chambers, one sister, Mrs. Esther Faye Reynolds, and her grandmother, Mrs. F.E. Lyons of Hollywood, Calif.

Before her health failed Mrs. Ambler was a member of the Eastern Star and Delphian chapters here and was active in both organizations.

Relatives who attended the funeral from out of town included Mr. and Mrs. E.G. Lyons, an aunt and uncle, from Wichita; Mrs. E.L. Davison, an aunt, of Wichita; and Mrs. C. E. Irwin, an aunt, of Lawrence, Kansas.
