Aged Woman Fatally Injured By Bull At Farm Home Monday

Services Wednesday For Mrs. Simmons At Alfalfa; Was Long Time Resident.

Mrs. Martha Simmons, 86, died at 11 a.m. Monday about two hours after she had been fatally injured by a bull at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jas. Plaster, 2 ½ miles northeast of Alfalfa.

Mrs. Plaster missed her mother from her usual place in the home and found she had entered the correl and had been knocked down by the bull.

Mrs. Plaster had some difficulty in driving the animal back until she could drag her mother thru the fence and Mr. Plaster could arrive to lend assistance.

No reason could be given why the aged woman had attempted to cross the born lot.

Funeral services were held at the Alfalfa Baptist church. Wednesday afternoon by Rev. Roy O. Womble, pastor, and burial was made in the Alfalfa cemetery.

A resident of the Alfalfa community many years, Mrs. Simmons is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Plaster and Mrs. Lizzie Terry of Michigan; a son, Roe Simmons of California, and a granddaughter, Mrs. Claude Huffman of Oklahoma City, Mr. Simmons died about 21 years ago.
