Edward Carol Shaw
January 2, 1934 ~ November 25, 2003


Funeral services for Edward Carol Shaw, 69, of Carnegie were held Saturday, November 29, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Carnegie with Rev. Virgil Payne and Rev. Ricky Huggins officiating.

Ed was born January 2, 1934 in Alfalfa to William "Bill" and Alice [Stephens] Shaw and died Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at his home in Carnegie.

He married Coletta Faye Smith on June 10, 1952 in Carnegie. To this union were born three sons, Craig, Rodney and Mark.

Edward was employed by Oklahoma natural Gas Company for 32 years, working in Oklahoma City, Anadarko and then transferring to Carnegie as local manager the last six years before retiring in 1990.

dward and Coletta made their home in Newcastle for 17 years.

He served on the Newcastle School Board, a member and president of the Newcastle Lions Club and coached little league baseball and football. Edward was a member of the Carnegie Chamber of Commerce serving as president and worked with the Carnegie Free Fair and helped with the domino tournament held each year. he served as president of the Carnegie Rotary Club, Carnegie Bass Club and the Alfalfa Alumni Association. Along with these duties, Ed belonged to the Alfalfa Odd Fellows, Lodge and was a member of the Alfalfa United Methodist church.

He loved to camp, fish and hunt with his sons and grandsons. His hobbies were woodworking, gardening, playing cards, Square dancing, traveling and storytelling.

He is survived by his wife, Coletta of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Phyllis Shaw of Newcastle, Rodney and Sheila Shaw of Watonga, and Mark and Cindy Shaw of Newcastle, eight grandchildren, Bryan Shaw, Brandi and Daniel Rego, Cara Shaw, Bret Shaw, Candace and Brian Baldwin, Clinton Shaw, Kurtis Shaw and Kendra Shaw; two brothers, Jim Shaw and wife, Wanda Jean and Javan Shaw and wife, Gail, all of Alfalfa; two sisters, Wanda Faye Kittredge and husband, Paul of Mustang and Jan Skaggs and husband, Grover of Fort Cobb; sisters-in-law, Norma Jean Shaw of Chickasha and Evelyn Shaw of Carnegie; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a multitude of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, C.W. Shaw and Robert "Bob" Shaw. Burial was in the Alfalfa Cemetery under the direction of the Pitcher-Hackney Funeral Home in Carnegie.
