Scott Buried At Alfalfa Saturday, 7th Exie Loner Chambers was born September 17, 1869 at Pulaskie, Giles county, Tenn., departed this life January 6, 1933 near Carnegie, Okla. at the age of 63 years, 3 months and 20 days. She was married to B.F. Scott, December 24, 1883 at Pulaskie, Tenn. To this union nine children were born, five of whom preceded her in death, Frankie, Hantie, Elmo, Gaither and Eva Geraldine. Her husband departed this life July 13, 1915 at Garvin. The surviving children are: Mrs. C.E. Spiker, Topeka, Kansas; Miss Erin Scott, Borger, Texas; Claude Scott, Garvin, and Elwood Scott, Carnegie. She also leaves three grand daughters whom she reared, Mrs. L.M. Winter, Borger, Texas; Mrs. Geo. E. Bigsby, Topeka, Kansas; Mrs. Vernice Besley, Sulphur, a number of great grand children and a host of friends and relatives to mourn her departure. She professed faith in Christ at an early age and has lived a beautiful life, bearing life's burden cheerfully until the end. She was a faithful wife, a devoted mother and loved by all who knew her. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church at Alfalfa Saturday afternoon, Jan. 7, conducted by Rev. Deering, pastor, and interment was made in the Alfalfa cemetery. |

Scott Funeral Service To Be Thursday Funeral services for Mrs. Sally Elizabeth Scott, who died early Wednesday morning at Mercy hospital in Oklahoma City, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Carnegie First Baptist church. Mrs. Scott. 77 years old, had been ill for several weeks before entering Mercy hospital the last of December. She had surgery January 3 and had been critical since. She was born March 18, 1880, at Ripley, Miss. She was married to I.V. Scott, September 20, 1903, at De Queen, Ark. Mr. and Mrs. Scott moved to Caddo county in 1908 from De Queen living on the farm northeast of Carnegie in the Pleasant View community for many years before moving to the present home in Carnegie. Her husband preceded her in death August 9, 1952. Survivors include two sons, Bryan G., Carnegie, and Frank W., Anadarko; two step-sons, Bryan G., Carnegie, and Frank W., Anadarko; two step-sons, Marion Scott, Carnegie, and Clarence Scott, Oklahoma City; one daughter, Mrs. Ethel Alkire, Plainview, Tex.; two brothers, Jess Dees, Norman, and Wes Dees, Moore; two sisters, Mrs. Caroline Shelton, Modesto, Calif., and Mrs. Margaret Millwee, Carnegie; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. |
Carnegie, Oklahoma July 1973 May 31, 1897 ~ July 8, 1973 Marion Lee Scott moved with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. I.V. Scott, at an early age to De Queen, Arkansas. The family moved to the Carnegie community in 1908 and settled on a farm northeast of town, where he was reared. He had lived in Carnegie since 1953. His wife, Inez died in 1963. and a son, Rev. Earl Scott died in 1969. He was the father of Earl; Norval Lee of El Monte, CA; Sturlin G. of Tujunga, CA; Thelma Fern Scott of Pasadena, CA; Dorothy Adams of Eakly and Darlene McRae of Carnegie. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma January 19, 1977 July 10, 1903 ~ January 11, 197 Scott Rites Held Friday Funeral services for Mrs. Velma Ruth Scott, 73, of Carnegie, were January 14 in the Carnegie Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Peters, pastor, and Rev. Dean Rainwater officiating. Burial was in Alfalfa Cemetery under the direction of Hartronft Funeral Home of Cordell. Mrs. Scott was found dead of unknown causes January 11 in her home in Carnegie. Born at Alfalfa July 10, 1903, she had lived in and near Alfalfa and Carnegie all her life. She was a member of the Baptist church. Survivors include two sons, Gerald of Oklahoma City and Keith of Alfalfa; one daughter, Ellen Marie Ferrell of Marion, Tenn.; one brother, Sammual Pierce of Oklahona City; two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Beall of Alfalfa and Mrs. Violet Vandizer of Lake Tahoe, Calif.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma August 28, 1963 October 30, 1906 ~ August 27, 1963 Heart Attack Is Fatal Tuesday For Mrs. M.L. Scott Mrs. Marion L. Scott, a resident of the Carnegie area since 1908, died unexpectedly about six o'clock Tuesday evening while starting to cross a street near her home at 104 South Delaware. Mrs. Scott suffered a heart attach in September of last year and had not been well since. She and a neighbor, Mrs. O.R. Adams Sr., had started to cross a street to visit with other neighbors when she collapsed and died shortly after. Inez Lothel Anderson was born October 30, 1906, at Armuchee, Ga., and moved to the Carnegie area when she was two years of age. She was married to Marion L. Scott on August 14, 1926. They resided on a farm northeast of town, later moving to the home in town. She is survived by her husband of the home; one son, Earl Scott, Bethany; three daughters, Thelma Fern Scott, Los Angeles, Mrs. O.R. Adams Jr., Eakly, and Mrs. Frank McRae, Carnegie; two step-sons, Norval Lee Scott, El Monte, Calif., and Sturlin Scott, Pasadena, Calif.; six sisters, Mrs. Dan Sharry, Weatherford, Mrs. Coyle Newell, Anadarko, Mrs. Esther Barton, Bethany, Mrs. Park Reece, Glenn, Calif., and Mrs. John Roberts, Chickasha; two brothers, Calvin Anderson, Farmington, N.M., and Ennis Anderson, Earlimart, Calif.; seven grandchildren and other relatives. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Carnegie First Baptist church. Rev. James Weston, pastor, and Rev. Bob Williams, Church of the Nazarene pastor, will officiate. Interment will be at Alfalfa. |

Rev. Garland Howard, pastor of the Baptist church at Alfalfa, conducted the funeral service at the home and the little body was laid to rest in the Alfalfa cemetery. |
Oklahoma June 14, 2003 June 14, 1927 ~ June 14, 2003 Funeral for Leroy Joe Scott, 76, Lawton, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Alfalfa Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Chapman officiating. Mr. Scott died Saturday, June 14, 2003, in Lawton. Burial will be at Alfalfa Cemetery under direction of Pitcher-Hackney Funeral Home, Carnegie. He was born June 14, 1927, in Alfalfa, to Joe and Velma Beal Scott. He graduated from Alfalfa High School in 1944. He lived in Alfalfa and Oklahoma City before moving to Lawton 10 years ago. He was a member of Alfalfa Baptist Church. Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Karen Scott, Hobart; and a nephew, Michael L. Scott, Beltsville, Md. Oklahoma May 2017 November 4, 1933 ~ May 10, 2017 Keith Cecil Scott, 83, passed away May 10, 2017. Keith was born November 4, 1933 in Alfalfa, Oklahoma to Henry James and Velma Ruth Pierce Scott. Keith attended school in Alfalfa, Oklahoma graduating with the Class of 1953. After graduation Keith served in the United States Army. The last few years Keith was a farmer and rancher in the Alfalfa area. Keith loved spending time with his children and his grandchildren. Keith is survived by three sons: Brian Scott of Alfalfa, Oklahoma James Scott & wife Mary of Eakly, Oklahoma, Robert Scott & wife Kerry of Prague, Oklahoma. Eight Grandchildren: Brian Scott, Heather Scott, Wyatt Scott, Nolan Scott, Kiersten Scott, Justin Scott, Noah Scott, and Cody Ferguson. Four Great Grandchildren: Kamryn Taylor, Xander Taylor, Huntleigh Taylor, & Ezekiel Taylor. Keith is also survived by a host of relatives and friends. Keith was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Gerald Scott, & one sister, Helen Ferrell. Funeral services for Keith will be Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Alfalfa Baptist Church, Alfalfa, Oklahoma with interment at the Alfalfa, Cemetery in Alfalfa, Oklahoma. Visitation will be Friday, May 12, 2017 from 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM and Saturday May 13, 2017 from 9:00 - 11:00 at the Chapel at Ray & Martha's Funeral Home in Carnegie, Oklahoma. |
