© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma 2 April 1914 Death Angel visited again the Burlson home Sunday. This time grandpa Burlson was taken home. Aaron Burlson was born in Alabama, April 14, 1831, and was married to Mary McVay in 1856. To this union eleven children were born, of which nine are living - five boys and four girls. He died March 29, 1914, age 82 years, 11 months and 15 days. He was buried in the Alfalfa cemetery on Monday. Mr. Burlson was an old frontiersman, spending a large portion of his life in Texas and was a member of the famous Texas Rangers. He is one of the early settlers in this country and has a large circle of acquaintances. The family have the sympathy of the entire community. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma March 6, 1940 Services at Alfalfa For Mr. Burleson Funeral services were held at the Alfalfa Baptist church Thursday afternoon for J.F. Burleson, 73, who died at his home near there February 27. Rev. G.C. Howard, pastor of the First Baptist church of Carnegie conducted the service and burial was made in the Alfalfa cemetery. James Franklin Burleson was born in Corell county, Texas March 24, 1866. He had been a resident of the Alfalfa community since 1906, living on his farm a mile east of town. For more than 40 years he was a member of the Masonic lodge and once served as master of the Alfalfa lodge. Survivors include his wife and four daughters, Mrs. C.A. Allred and Mrs. Ernest Howl of Alfalfa; Mrs. Edd Patton, San Antonio, Texas; and Mrs. Eual Holtzclaw, Oklahoma City; 15 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister also survive. Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were Jack Burleson, a nephew from Tulare, California and Rosa Lee Dukes, a niece from Oklahoma City. |
