© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, November 16, 1932 Martin Boese Was Pioneer Resident Of Oklahoma Another early day resident of Oklahoma has been called to his reward in the passing of Martin Boese, 76, funeral service for whom was held at Alfalfa at 2 p.m., Wednesday of last week. Rev. I.J. Spurlin conducted the service and interment was made in the Alfalfa cemetery. Martin Boese was born in South Russia January 8, 1856. He was married to Susie Ann Weibe February 28, 1877 to this union seven children were born, three of whom are living. His wife died August 5, 1917. Mr. Boese came to America and settled is Kansas in 1879. In 1898 he moved to the new territory of Oklahoma and located near Cordell. Later at the opening of the Caddo country, he moved to his farm northwest of Alfalfa where he lived until his death, Monday, Nov. 7, 1932. He was 76 years, 9 months and 29 days of age. He is survived by his son, H.W. Boese of Hydro; his daughters, Mrs. G.L. Maddox and Miss Kathrin Boese, of the Alfalfa community, two brothers, one sister, 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was converted in early life and joined the Mennonite church of which he was a member at his death. Relatives from a distance who at attended the funeral were his brother, A.H. Boese, a nephew, Henry Reimer, his nieces, Mrs. P.H. Queiring and Mrs. Pete Dick all of Goessel, Kans., and Mrs. John Franz, a niece of Orlando. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma August 16, 1917 Mrs. Martin Boese died at her home near Alfalfa on Sunday, August 5. Buried in Alfalfa Cemetery. Susanna Wiehe was born May 15, 1855 in South Russia. Baptized in the Mennonite church in 1875. Married Martin Boese March 10, 1877. Seven children born to this union, three preceded her in death. The husband, one son and three daughters and 11 grandchildren survive. Aged 62 years, 2 months, 20 days. |
