© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, July 27, 1916 January 24, 1865 ~ July 26, 1916 Walter Henry Zimmerman born in Harrison County, Missouri in 1865 and died at home in Carnegie Wednesday July 26, 1916. He moved from Missouri to Kansas and in 1889 came to Oklahoma, being one of Kingfisher county's early settlers. In 1890 he united in marriage to Miss Minnie English to them eight children were born: Lee, of Lewistown, Idaho, and Katie, Willie, Linnie, Lucile, Churchill, Mildred and Cletha, all at home. The wife and all children survive and his mother and two sisters, Mrs. D. Hollingshead, of Lucien, Oklahoma and Mrs. Chas. Hawkey, of Freemont, Michigan and two brothers, Benjamin and Harvey Zimmerman of Kiowa county. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church since 1912 and Carnegie Lodge, I.O.O.F. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, September 18, 1946 December 17, 1865 ~ September 16, 1946 Services Wednesday Here at 2:30 For Mrs. Zimmerman>br> Services for Mrs. Minnie Zimmerman who died Monday in an Anadarko hospital were at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the First Christian church. Rev. Arnold Davis, pastor, preaching the funeral sermon. Burial was in the Alden cemetery. Minnie Davis English was born in Elizabethtown, Ky., Dec. 17, 1865. She was married to Walter Henry Zimmerman at Kingfisher. The Zimmermans were among the first settlers here, locating on a farm nine miles south and seven west of Carnegie about 1903. They later moved to Carnegie and Mr. Zimmerman died here in 1904. Mrs. Zimmerman moved to El Reno about 1928. In recent years she has made her home with her children living much of the time with her daughter, Mrs. E.C. Hoops, at Fort Cobb. She united with the Christian church early in life. Survivors include three sons, Lee W., Obline, Kans.; Wm. Henry, Des Moines, Iowa, and Churchill Wayne, El Reno; four daughters, Mrs. B.T. Marshall, El Reno; Mrs. Hoops; Mrs. Mildred Long, Dallas, and Mrs. Paul G. Peek, Des Moines, and one sister, Mrs. Berkley of this place. She is also survived by seven grandchildren. |
