© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, July 30, 1941 1874 ~ July 18, 1941 Services were held at the Alden church at 2:30 p.m. Saturday for Joseph Young who died Friday at his home four and one-half miles west of Elgin. He had been in failing health for some time but was taken seriously ill Tuesday evening. Burial was made in Alden cemetery with Rev. O W. Eudaley of Carnegie conducting the services. Joseph Young was born May 4, 1874 in Texas and died July 18, 1941 at the age of 67. In 1892 he was married to Miss Mary Lynch at Cleburne, Texas. To this union 10 children were born, three of which preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife and four daughters, Miss Ellen Young, and Mrs. Nellie Smith of the home address, Mrs. Paul Eakins of Elgin and Mrs. Gus Carlile of Sayre, three sons, Elbert Young of the home address, Othol Young of Carnegie, Lawrence Young of White Plains, New York, 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild. For many years, Mr. Young was a resident of the Carnegie community. |
Apache, Oklahoma June 9, 1948 July 13, 1876 ~ May 30, 1948 Mrs. Young, Former Resident, Is Buried In Alden Cemetery Burial was in the Alden cemetery May 31 for Mrs. Mary Young, former resident of the community southwest of Carnegie, who died of a heart ailment a Chickasha hospital May 30 at 7:40 a.m. She had been in poor health for several years. Mrs. Young was born in Benton county, Ark., July 12, 1876. She was married to Joseph "Joe" Young Dec. 29, 1892, in Parker County, Texas. The husband and three children preceded her in death. The family came to Oklahoma in 1907 and lived southwest of Carnegie until 1928 when they moved to Comanche county. Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Ada Carlisle, Sayre; Mrs. Nellie Williams, Pampa, Texas; Mrs. Mary Eakins, Elgin, and Ellen Young of the home address; three sons, Elbert of the home address; Orthol, Lawton, and Lawrence of California; 15 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. |
