© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, April 4, 1928 1870 ~ March 21, 1926 Elmer W. Wise, well known farmer in the community south of town died at his home Saturday night, March 31 after an illness of several weeks. Funeral services were held at Alden Sunday afternoon and burial was made in the Alden cemetery. Rev. R.K. McGregor, pastor of the First Baptist church of Carnegie preached the funeral sermon. Mr. Wise was born in Indiana in 1869 and at the time of his death was 58 years, 3 months and 1 day old. He came to Oklahoma from Kansas in 1902. Mrs. Wise died seven years ago. He is survived by his eight children, six sons and two daughters as follows: Bertha Harding, Lawrence, Helen, Elmer, Everett, Charles, Orville and Robert Wise, also by his aged mother, and four brothers and one sister. "He was a good, loving father, and a very kind and helpful neighbor." |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, June 8, 1938 1908 ~ June 1, 1937 Carnegie Man Dies In California Funeral services were held at the Alden church at 4:30 Tuesday afternoon for Lawrence Wise, native of this community, who died at Stockton, Calif. June 1 after a short illness. He had gone to the west coast about six months ago where he expected to work. J.T. Howard of the Carnegie Baptist church conducted the services and burial was made in the Alden cemetery. Arrangements were by the Pitcher Funeral Home. Lawrence Wise was a son of the Late Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Wise and was born in the Dixie community south of Carnegie. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Harding, Jasper, Ark. and Mrs. Helen Comer, Rosetta, Colo., and four brothers, Elmer Wise, Hereford, Texas; Everett Wise, Carnegie; Orville Wise, Bedford Iowa, and Robert Wise of Centennial, Wyoming, and many friends in this community where he spent practically all his life. |
