© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, February 7, 1951 July 23, 1875 ~ February 1, 1951 Services Monday For Bert Newton In Alden Church Services were at 2 p.m. Monday in the Alden Presbyterian church for A.G. "Bert" Newton, a resident of this community since he homesteaded his farm south of town in 1901. He died in a Clinton hospital Thursday after being in ill health for several years. Mr. Newton's son, Rev. Guy Newton, delivered the funeral sermon and Rev. Frank Elkins, pastor of the Carnegie Baptist church, assisted in conducting the services. The Harvey Funeral Home of Fort Cobb was in charge of arrangements. Albert Guy Newton was born at Whiteing, Kan., July 27, 1875, and grew to manhood in his native state. He came to Oklahoma in 1901 and was married to Claudie Pearl Shaw June 6, 1905. To then nine children were born. He was a member of the Baptist church, the Odd Fellows and the Modern Woodman. Surviving are his four daughters, Mrs. Ruby Scott, Borger, Texas; Mrs. Imo McCullough, Apache; Mrs. Ruth Strickland, Turlock, Calif, and Mrs. Faye Tooman, Apache, and his five sons, Rev. Guy Newton, Rayne, La.; Rev. D.M. Newton, Pineville, La.; Bob Newton, Eloy, Ariz.; Jack Newton, Apache, and Charlie Newton of Borger, as well as many other near relatives. All the children were here for the services except one son, Bob, of Arizona |

He was buried in the Alden cemetery Wednesday afternoon. Rev. Pickens officiating at the service. To the bereaved ones we extend our sympathy. |
