© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, March 28, 1863 ~ May 10, 1944 Alden Farmer Dies In Duncan; Funeral Here 3:30 Thursday Funeral services for L.C. Morgan, 81, who died in a Duncan hospital this morning at 5 o'clock, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of the Pitcher Funeral Home. Rev. C.M. Price, pastor of the Baptist church, will preach the sermon. Burial will be in the Alden cemetery. Louis Carl Morgan was born at Panola, Woodward county, Illinois, March 28, 1863. His parents moved to Clearwater, Kans., when he was a small boy. He located at Alden in 1923, making his home with his brother, Gus Morgan, until the brother died in 1938. Since then he has made his home with Mr. and Mrs. C.S. Bullard. When the Bullards moved to Duncan the first of the year, he went with them. He has been ill in the hospital for the past two months. Morgan Was converted when he was a young man and joined the Baptist church. His only surviving relative is a nephew, Walter J. Morgan, Portland, Ore. Mr. and Mrs. Bullard arrived in Carnegie this afternoon to direct funeral arrangements and attended the funeral. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, February 9, 1938 September 8, 1867 ~ February 7, 1938 Gus Morgan, Pioneer Dies At Elk City Gus Morgan, well known farmer and resident of the community south of town for the past 35 years died at an Elk City hospital early Monday after being seriously ill for the past 15 months. Funeral services were conducted at the Alden church Monday afternoon by Rev. J.T. Howard, pastor of the First Baptist church of Carnegie, and burial was made in the Alden cemetery. Augustus Morgan was born in Illinois September 8, 1867 and died February 7, 1938, aged 70 years, 5 months and 1 day. He came to Oklahoma in 1903 and located 14 miles south of Carnegie where he lived until his death. He had never married. He is survived by his brother, L.C. Morgan who has been his constant companion for years, and another brother, Woodford Morgan, who lives in Kansas but could not attend the funeral. |
