Sid Dyer Rites Are Held Tuesday p.m. At Alden Church

Funeral rites for S.E. "Sid" Dyer, well known Alden farmer, were held at the Alden Union church at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon following his death at his home Saturday. He had been ill the past several weeks.

Mr. Dyer came to this community in 1901 and located on the farm half a mile from the present home to which the family moved in 1917.

Services were conducted by Rev. C.N. Price, pastor of the Carnegie Baptist church, and burial was made in the Alden cemetery under auspices of the Masonic lodge of which he had been a member the past 35 years.

Sidney Earl Dyer was born at Clearwater, Kans., January 24, 1877, and was 68 years and 23 days of age at the time of his death. He was married to Miss Lilly Hartman February 14, 1906, and to them 10 children were born, three preceding him in death.

Besides his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Miss Mary Ellen at home; Mrs. Irene Elliott, Stecker; Mrs. Thelma Martin, Mrs. Fern McHenry and Mrs. Naomi McCurdy of this place, and two sons, C.E. dyer and Carl H. Dyer, also eight grandchildren and two brothers, Ham Dyer, Clearwater, Kans., and Joe Dyer of Knowles, and one sister.

Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral Tuesday included Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Hartman, of Hoenohe, Colo.; Geo. Hartman, San Bernardino, Calif., and Mrs. Annie Watson, of Lawrence, Kans.

yer Funeral Is Held Sunday In Carnegie Church

Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Dyer were held Sunday in the First Baptist church, with Rev. W.F. Crow, pastor, officiating.

Mrs. Dyer had been a resident of Carnegie and community for fifty years. She had been ill for a time and was in an Oklahoma City hospital at the time of her death.

Mrs. Dyer was a member of the First Baptist church and of the Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars of Carnegie.

She was born in Leavenworth, Kans., October 31, 1887, and with her parents moved to Carnegie in 1905.

She was married to Sidney E. Dyer in 1906 and they lived on a farm south of Carnegie until 1945 when Mr. Dyer passed away. Since then, Mrs. Dyer had lived in Carnegie.

Three children also preceded her in death.

Survivors include; two sons, Carl and Earl Dyer, both of Carnegie; five daughters, Mrs. Irene Elliott of Anadarko, Mrs. Thelma Martin of Fort Cobb, Mrs. Fern Coyle of Lindsay, Mrs. Naomi McCurdy of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Mary Ellen Brown of Los Angeles; 15 grandchildren, one great grandchild, two bothers and two sisters.

Henry Arthur "Art" Dyer
November 7, 1878 ~ June 6, 1943


Final Rites For Art Dyer Thur'day

Funeral Services will be held at the family home Thursday afternoon for H.A. "Art" Dyer, well known Alden farmer who died suddenly Sunday from effects of a heart attack. He had been in failing health for some time and had almost lost his sight.

Rev. C.N. Price, Baptist pastor, will conduct the services and burial will be in the Alden cemetery under auspices of the Masonic lodge of this place of which he was a Past Master. Pitcher Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

Mr. and Mrs. Dyer came to Oklahoma in 1902 and located near Stecker and in 1907 moved to their present farm in the Alden district where they have since lived. He always took an active interest in the affairs of the community and has helped with the development of the country. He was converted at the Alden Baptist Church an was a 32nd Degree Mason.

Henry Arthur Dyer was born November 6, 1878 on a farm near Clearwater, Kansas. In 1900 he was united in marriage to Miss Florence Martin and to them 12 children were born, three of whom preceded their father in death.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Florence Dyer, five sons and four daughters, Mrs. Mary Nance, Carnegie; Mrs. Eleanora Carr, Geo. Dyer , and Alvin Dyer, Ft. Cobb; Martin Dyer, Floydada, Texas; Mrs. Wanda Chowning, Carlsbad, New Mexico; Walter and Ethel Dyer of the home, and Pvt. John Dyer, stationed at Camp Haun, Calif. And three brothers, Joe H Dyer, Kansas; Hamlin Dyer, Clearwater, Kansas and S.E. Dyer, Carnegie; and a sister, Mrs. Nina Steen, Clearwater, Kansas, all of whom are present except the sister. He also had 20 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Joe Ahimaz Dyer
March 30, 1913 ~ March 15, 1919


Joel, little son of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Dyer of near Alden died at 2 o'clock Saturday morning of influenza.

The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at the Alden cemetery, Rev. W. U. Griffith conducting the service.

Joel Ahimaz Dyer was born March 30, 1913, died March 15, 1919, aged 5 years, 11 months and 18 days.

Donald Horace Dyer
March 7, 1927 ~ November 2, 1932


Horace Donald, son of Mr. and Mrs. S.E. Dyer of the Alden community, died Wednesday of diphtheria. Rev. J.M. Burrows will conduct the funeral service at the residence Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Burial will take place in the Alden cemetery. The home is quarantine and the service will be conducted out of doors.

Horace Donald Dyer was born March 7, 1927, died November 2, 1932, aged 5 years, 7 months and 25 days.
