© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, March 6, 1935 March 22,1845 ~ April 11, 1923 Edwin Samuel Berkley was born in Montgomery county, Kentucky, March 22, 1845 and died at his home near Alden Wednesday, April 11, 1923, age 78 years and 20 days. He was married to Lizzie D. English December 13, 1883. To this union were born five children all of whom survive the deceased as follows: Mrs. Flora Smith of Carnegie; Charlie Berkley of Alden; Mrs. Hazel Hews of Alden, and Miss Dora Berkley and Wyatt Berkley who still remain at the parental home. Besides his wife and children he has a host of friends and relatives left to mourn his death. At an early age he united with the Christian church and has lived a faithful member until his death. Funeral services were conducted at the Union church at Alden Friday afternoon by Rev. L.D. Hawkins of Carnegie and interment was made in the Alden cemetery. |

They moved to town a number of years ago from Alden. They came to this part of the state from Hennessey, having come to Oklahoma at the opening. All 6 children attended the funeral. Mrs. C.E. Schooley of Sperry and Mrs. J.T. Hart of Mansfield, Arkansas, Mrs. T.D. Bernard, Misses Nannie Belle and Birdie and J.N. live here. Mrs. E.F. Berkley of Alden and Mrs. Minnie Zimmerman and Mrs. Kate Isham of this place are sisters. |
