© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, December 9, 2015 Alita Blanche [Applewhite] Spencer March 23, 1918 ~ December 5, 2015 Alita Blanche Spencer was born at Oney, Oklahoma on March 23, 1918 to M.C. Applewhite and Alice Dennis. She passed on December 5, 2015 at the Grady Memorial Hospital in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Alita graduated from Oney High School and then attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University for 2 years and obtained her teaching her certificate in 1937. She taught English at Ft. Cobb for 2 years and Oney for 2 years; she coached junior high basketball, started the High School's prom and fine arts and even taught students to dance. She married Boyd J. Spencer on December 26, 1939 in Ft. Cobb, OK. She and Boyd started a family and after 2 children, she taught private music lessons for many years. Alita and Boyd ran their business of farming operations, Spencer Sandstone Ranch Polled Heifers. She loved hunting and fishing with Boyd. Alita loved sports and attended all of her grandchildren's activities. Alita was an avid sports fan and loved to attend sporting events. She was a member of the Oney Christian Church and Oklahoma Pollettes-Eastern Star. Survivors Include: her children, Barbara Kendall and husband Walter of OKC,OK and Joe Spencer and wife Janie of Chickasha, OK, her grandchildren, Jodie Cates and husband Justin of CO, Kelly Ayen and husband Gordy of NY, Lori Wilson and husband Cory of Hammon, OK, Bryan Spencer and wife Jenni of AZ, Kevin Kendall and wife Kathy of OKC,OK, Kathleen Walker of Tulsa, OK, and Jenny Kalsu and husband Bob of OKC,OK, great grandchildren, Jacie, Jaden, Zach, Cooper, Jordan, Avery, Adysen, Bobby, Kristina, Kelsey, Elizabeth, McKenzie, Madison, Robert, and Mia, her great great grandchildren, Mason Horn and RJ, her cousin, Johnny Veron, as well as many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, MC and Alice Applewhite, her husband, Boyd Spencer, and her cousin Franky Edwards. Graveside Services: Albert-Oney Cemetery, Monday, 2:00 PM, December 7, 2015, Albert, OK. Officiating: Dustin Tackett. |
