© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, October 28, 1959 Mary Alice Smith 1873 ~ 1959 Mrs. Mary Smith Funeral Services Held At Fort Cobb FORT COBB--Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Smith were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Fort Cobb Funeral chapel with Rev. Leonard Gillingham and Rev. Lee Slaten, both of Oney, officiating. Burial was in the Oney cemetery. Mrs. Smith, a housewife, died at her home Wednesday morning. She was born September 9, 1873, in Chattanooga, Tenn., and was married to Walter O. Smith on August 2, 1900 at Billings, Mo. The couple came to Caddo county in 1901. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. J.A. Pearson of Gold Beach, Oregon, and Mrs. Vernie McAnally of Lookeba; two brothers, W.E. Conner, Willow Springs, Mo., and J.M. Conner of Fort Cobb; one sister, Mrs. Effie Steen, Lookeba; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, November 30, 1949 Delmar John Smith November 17, 1903 ~ November 24, 1949 Delmar Smith Dies In Home at Oney; Services Sunday ONEY, Nov. 28.--Services were in the Baptist church Sunday afternoon for D.J. Smith, 46, who died at his home near here Thursday after a brief illness. Burial was in the Oney cemetery. Delmer John Smith was born in Fort Cobb November 17, 1903. While still a young man he moved to the farm where he made his home until his death. He was united in marriage to Pearl Rich September 1, 1931. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Pearl Smith at the home, and their six children, Delmar Ray, Donald Eugene, Charles Harlan, Eleanor Faye, Muriel and Glenn Douglas. Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. M.A. Smith, Fort Cobb, and two sisters, Mrs. V.L. McAnally, Fort Cobb, and Mrs. J.A. Pearson, Ophir, Oregon. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, July 17, 2013 Jack Osborne Smith September 3, 1930 ~ July 12, 2013 Jack Osborne Smith was born on September 3, 1930 in Binger, OK to Jennings Bryan and Nannie Mae [Gregory] Smith. He passed away on July 12, 2013 at his home Binger, OK at the age of 82. Jack served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He married Joyce Sharp on July 22, 1950 in Portales, NM. She preceded him in death on October 29, 2011 in Norman, OK. Jack lived in Oney and later in Anadarko. He farmed and owned and operated Lacey Pioneer Abstract Company. Jack married Wilma [Tackett] Pack on September 1, 2012. He served on the Oney School Board for 10 years. Jack was a member of the Caddo County Golf and Country Club as well as the Oney Christian Church. He enjoyed playing cards, golfing, bowling, fishing, dominoes, and loved reading. Survivors Include: Wife; Wilma Pack Smith of Oney, OK, 5 Children; Donna Willits of Branson, MO, Peggy Lee and husband Mick of Anadarko, OK, Teresa Green and husband Dennis of Ft. Cobb, OK, Jack Smith of Los Colinas, TX, and Ron Smith and wife Kris of Meade, OK, 5 Step-children; Dean Pack and wife Debbie of Oney, OK, Kenneth Pack and wife Jackie of Gracemont, OK, David Pack and wife Rhonda of Oney, OK, Clint Pack and wife Phyllis of Oney, OK and Shanon Pack and wife Staci of Hinton, OK, a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, 2 Sisters; Betty Tidwell and husband Paul of Oney, OK, Carolyn Johnson of Yukon, OK, Brother; Stephen Smith and wife Biddie of OKC, OK, many nieces and nephews, Sister-in-law; Frankie Sharp of Oney, OK and very special friend Pat Walker. He was preceded in death his parents Jennings and Nannie Smith, his wife of 61 years; Joyce Smith, siblings; Joyce Green, Gerald "Son" Smith, Wayne Smith, Gary Smith, George "Pat" Smith, Brother-in-law; Alvin Sharp and two grandchildren. © Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, November 2, 2011 Joyce Aline [Sharp] Smith July 18, 1935 ~ October 29, 2011 Joyce Aline Smith, 76, of Anadarko OK, was called home by the Lord on October 29, 2011, in Norman OK. She was born July 18, 1935, to Alva and Ruby [Willits] Sharp in Oney OK. She attended Oney High School where she met the love of her life, Jack Smith; they married on July 22, 1950, in Portales NM. They made their home in the Oney Community, where they raised their children and farmed many years. They grew peanuts and wheat and raised cattle. Joyce was very active in all the school activities and the community. She and Jack moved to Anadarko in 1993 and had lived here since that time. She worked at Walmart for 17½ years. She enjoyed going to work. Her greatest love was for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joyce was a devoted wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, and friend. She was affectionately known to her grandchildren as Dema. She enjoyed cooking, and her specialty was lasagna. She was a member of the Oney Christian Church. Joyce will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband, Jack, of 61 years; sons Jack Smith and wife Sonya of Valley View TX, and Ronnie Smith and wife Kris of Anadarko OK; daughters Donna Willits of Branson MO, Peggy Lee and husband Mick of Anadarko, and Teresa Green and husband Dennis of Weatherford OK; grandchildren Dusty Willits, Robin Dietrich and husband Edward, Ronnie Lee and wife Kristi, Laney Holt and husband Gaylord, Brandon Blue Willits and wife Kim, Caleb Green, Mickael Lee, Shara Sage and husband Lucas, and Lindee and Jaxon Smith; sister-in-law Frankie Sharp of Oney; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Alva and Ruby Sharp, brother Alvin Sharp, and an infant sister. |
