© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, April 11, 1951 Jane Cathern Nelson December 25, 1862 ~ April 10, 1951 Nelson Rites Set Thursday at Oney Oney, April 11.--Funeral services for Mrs. Kathrine Jane Nelson, 88-year-old Oney woman, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Oney Baptist church. Rev. Jack Stuart and Rev. John Quickle will have charge of the services. The Harvey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in the Oney cemetery. Mrs. Nelson died at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday at her home in Oney after a long illness. She was born in Ohio December 25, 1862. She was married to R.A. Nelson December 25, 1878 in Texas. She moved to Oney in 1908 and had lived there since. She was a member of the Oney Christian church. Survivors are three sons, Sam and Elmer of Oney and Frank, of Albin, Ill. and four daughters, Mrs. Debbie Pledge, Tulsa; Mrs. Myrtle Franklin, Fort Cobb; Mrs,. Byrdie Teacher, Anadarko; and Mrs. Ethel Griffin, Linden, Calif. A number of grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive. |
© Smith Funeral Home Anadarko, Oklahoma December 2013 February 27, 1942 ~ December 12, 2013 He was born February 27, 1942 to Elmer and Alice Hazel [Compton] Nelson in Albert, Oklahoma. He graduated from Oney High School with the class of 1960. He was very active in sports and FFA where he received The Chapter Farmer of the year award. He also attended Drauans Business College in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He worked for the Turnpike Authority and helped with the building of the Turner Turnpike. He was united in marriage to Linda Swihart on May 28, 1965, from this union was born three children. Robert Earl farmed in the Oney Community until 1996 where he raised peanuts, wheat and cattle. He was united in marriage to Velma Williams on March 12, 1999. He enjoyed going to all the school functions when his kids were young and enjoyed going to all the grandchildren's school functions when they came along. His greatest love was for his family, he especially enjoyed spoiling the grandkids. He enjoyed riding horses, going to Rodeos and hunting. He was a member of the Oak Dale Missionary Baptist Church. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by one son, Justin Nelson and wife, Jennifer of Hinton, Oklahoma, two daughters, Stacie Bray and husband, Bill of Tuttle, Oklahoma and Christie Fontenot and husband, Benji of Hinton, Oklahoma, grandchildren, Kali and Austin Sharry, Caje, Terrin and Tandy Fontenot, Matthew and Kade Drummond, Blake Bray and Katlin Nelson, one sister, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Linda, the mother of his children, two grandchildren, Nathan Bray and Catherine Drummond, one brother and two sisters. |
