Thursday Fort Cobb, May 24--Services for Willie Lee Martin, route 3, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Fort Cobb Baptist church with Rev. Jack Stuart, Cement, officiating. Burial will be in Albert cemetery under direction of Fort Cobb Funeral Home. Mr. Martin died Tuesday in a Carnegie hospital after an illness of one week. He was 79 years old. Willie Lee Martin was born May 9, 1876 in Lampasas, Texas. In 1901 he married Miss Effie Strickland in Tarrant county, Texas. They moved to Caddo county in 1907. He was a member of the Baptist church and belonged to IOOF lodge of Oney. He is survived by his wife, home address; five sons, Theodore, Alton, Cecil and Herbert, all of Fort Cobb, and Robert of Tulsa; three daughters, Mrs. Edith Mason, Nevada, Mo.; Mrs. Irene Wilson and Mrs. Mary Lou McClure, Anadarko; two brothers, Albert Martin, Bowie, Texas and Robert Martin, Fort Worth; three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Baker, of Temple, Okla.; Mrs. Emily Grimsley, Mansfield, Texas, and Mrs. Lenora Morgan, Shamrock, Texas; 32 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. |

Martin At Fort Cobb< Funeral services for Mrs. Effie May Martin were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, in the First Baptist church, Fort Cobb. Rev. Roy Lind, pastor of the Pleasant View Baptist church, officiated. Interment was in the Albert cemetery. Mrs. Martin, Long time resident of the Pleasant View community northeast of Carnegie, died early Thursday morning in an Anadarko hospital after a brief illness. She was born March 7, 1886, at Sugar Valley, Ga. Both of her parents died while she was very young. She was reared in the home of an uncle, Billy Muse. The family moved to Texas where she met Willie Lee Martin. They were married August 24, 1901 in Tarrant county. Mr. and Mrs. Martin moved to Caddo county in 1907 and to the Pleasant View home in 1926. Mr. Martin and one son, Ralph, preceded her in death. She had made her home for the past two years in Fort Cobb. She was a member of the Methodist church. Survivors include five sons; Theodore, Alton, Cecil and Herbert of Fort Cobb, and Robert of Tulsa; three daughters, Mrs. Edith Mason of Fort Cobb, Mrs. Irene Wilson of Chickasha, and Mary Lou McClure of Anadarko; 33 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. |
© Smith Funeral Home Anadarko, Oklahoma Monday, January 25, 2016 Marjorie Jean [Jackson] Martin February 7, 1927 ~ January 25, 2016 Jean Martin, 88, passed away at her home in Anadarko on Monday, January 25th, 2016 after an extended illness. She was born on February 7, 1927 in Oney, OK to Dave and Della [Salyer] Jackson. She married Robert Martin on November 14, 1945 in Anadarko, OK. Jean loved her family and enjoyed all of her family getting together and eating big dinners and visiting. She loved playing cards with her friends, listening to music and dancing the 2-step. Her hobbies included going to garage sales and shopping. She liked to just go anywhere, it didn't matter where, she just liked to go. Looking her best was a priority, she loved to dress up and always had her hair fixed and her make-up done perfectly. She was a homemaker and loved flowers and had beautiful flower beds. She was a quilter and made numerous quilts. Jean was just a sweet person to be around and everyone who knew her loved to be around her. She will be greatly missed by many. She is survived by her son Ronald J. Martin and his wife, Barbara of Anadarko, OK. Four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Della Jackson; her husband, Robert her daughter; Kathy Dickson, her brother, Weldon Jackson and her sister, Thelma King. Graveside Services: 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Oney Cemetery, Oney, OK Officiating: Bro. John Timms Bro. Donald Wright Interment: Oney Cemetery, Oney, OK Visitation will be Wednesday to Friday 9:00 - 8:00 and Saturday, 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. |
