© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, May 11, 1966 Nellie E. [Bangs] Elliott May 18, 1883 ~ May 4, 1966 Funeral Services Are Held At Oney Funeral services for Mrs. J.W. Elliott, 82, pioneer of the Oney community, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Oney Christian church. Rev. Harold Mosley of Hinton and Paul Haskett, church pastor, officiated. Burial was in the Fort Cobb cemetery. Mrs. Elliott, the former Nellie E. Bangs, was born May 18, 1883, in Stone county, Ark. She was married to J.W. Elliott March 4, 1903 at Mountain View, Ark., and came to Oklahoma in 1910. They farmed east of Alfalfa for many years, and operated a store at Swan Lake until the land was surveyed for the Fort Cobb reservoir. She was a member of the Oney Christian church. She is survived by her husband; five sons, Herbert of Lubbock, Delmer of Binger, Harold of Gallup, N.M., Eulis of Oklahoma City and Herman Elliott of Pryor; two daughters, Mrs. Alma Gilbert of Albuquerque and Mrs. Wanda Kelly of Russellville, Ark. |

Elliott 1906 ~ May 22, 1959 ONEY--Funeral services for Mrs. Monroe Elliott were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 24, at the Oney Baptist church with Rev Lee Slaton, pastor, officiating. Mrs. Elliott, a resident of the Oney community since 1924, died in a Chickasha hospital on May 22, at the age of 52. She had been in ill health for the past ten years. |
