Jerome Stanley passed from this life in Durant, Oklahoma on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the age of 58 years 2 months and 7 days. He was born in Atlantic Beach, South Carolina to Jethro Hart and Lucille (Stanley) Batts on Thursday, February 25, 1954. Jerome married Jennifer Lewis in Durant, Oklahoma on Saturday, September 17, 2011.

Jerome was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Durant, Oklahoma.

He was proud to be a Narcotics Anonymous Sponsor. Jerome had a positive attitude and people were drawn to his sense of humor. He loved to take road trips and traveling. But more than anything else he enjoyed spending time with his kids.

Mr. Stanley is survived by his wife, Jennifer Stanley of Durant, Oklahoma; brothers, Steven Bates and wife Elaine of Little River, South Carolina and Jethro Hart of Raleigh, North Carolina; sister, Eva Stanley of New York; mother, Lucille Batts of Little River, South Carolina; step-daughter, Kim Harris of Georgia; daughters, Contersa Gause of Little River, South Carolina and Jaleghia Stanley of Durant, Oklahoma; sons, Carlos Harris of South Carolina, Quincy Watson of Orangeburg, South Carolina, Chris Stanley of Pennsylvania, Javon Lewis of Durant, Oklahoma, Jeremiah Stanley of Durant, Oklahoma and Jerome Stanley, Jr. of Durant, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by his father, Jethro Hart, Sr.; step-mother, Dorothy Hart; grandmother, Grandma Hart; nephew, Derrick M. Stanley.

Family Hour will be from 6-7:00 P.M. on Friday, May 4, 2012 at the First Church of the Nazarene 724 West Texas, Durant, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Durant, Oklahoma with Rev. John Kinsey officiating. Interment will follow at the Yarnaby Cemetery . Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Baird, Ed Phelps, Bill Carr, Kevin Shepard, David Lewis and Quincy Watson.
