James "J.T." Gray

August 22, 1939 ~ September 11, 2017

James "J.T." Gray, a resident of Yuba, Oklahoma left this life in Plano, Texas on Monday September 11, 2017, at the age of 78 years and 19 days. He was born on August 22, 1939 in Morton, Texas to Homer Thomas and Ollie (Henderson) Gray. J.T. married his sweetheart Ethel Burden in Lubbock, Texas on August 22, 1960.

J.T. had a strong work ethic, he was employed by; the Katy Railroad as a car man, and Sundowners in Coleman, Oklahoma. He was a dedicated member, and deacon of the Yuba Baptist Church. J.T. served on the Yuba/Achille School Board for 32 years, and was a member of the Albany Lodge 159 where he served in a variety of positions. His hobbies were spending time with his cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and tending to his animals.

J.T. is survived by his beloved wife, Ethel Gray of the home; daughters, Debra Lambert and husband Lee of Garland, Texas, Cathy Alley and husband Jimmy of Yuba, Oklahoma, and Carol Gray of Yuba, Oklahoma; Son, Shannon Gray and wife Jamie of Yuba, Oklahoma; sisters, Mary Ann Stovall of Hooker, Oklahoma, and Barbara Holdman and husband Larry of Sun Down, Texas; brother, David Gray and wife Debbie of Waldon, Arkansas; grandchildren, Vanessa Lambert and fiancé Todd Hinnebush, Caleb Alley and wife Tarah of Yuba, Oklahoma, Hannah Alley of Yuba, Oklahoma, Jake Townsend and wife Alli of Yuba, Oklahoma, Taylor Gray, and fiancé Kayla Choate of Durant, Oklahoma, and Taylor Michele Williams of Yuba, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Paisley Townsend, Gracelynn Alley, Lilly Anne Gray, Zoey Rae Williams, and Delayni Rayne Williams; future grandson, Beau Hinnebusch.

J.T. was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Ollie Gray; and five brothers, and five sisters.

The family respectfully suggest that memorial be make in JT’s name to the Yuba Baptist Church, 114 Roma Road, Bokchito, Oklahoma 74726.

Family Hour will be from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM Wednesday September 13th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A church service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday September 14th at the Yuba Baptist Church, Yuba, Oklahoma with Bro. Mike Moody, and Bro. Marty Hutchings officiating. Interment will follow at Yarnaby Cemetery in Yarnaby. Serving as pallbearers will be Ben Trejo, Billy Russell, Bobby Grove, Cole Osburn, Dwight Staton, and Joe Staton.
