Tommy Dowd a resident of Yuba, Oklahoma passed from this life at his home on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at the age of 58 years and 13 days. He was born to Charles Benton and Nelda (Dunegan) Dowd Compton in Durant, Oklahoma on Tuesday, August 30, 1955.
Tommy married Debra Cheshier in Sherman, Texas on Friday, August 16, 1974.
Tommy was a welder by trade for 30 years and was currently employed by the Caterpillar Corporation. He was a member of the Kemp Baptist Church. He loved watching basketball, fishing, spending time on the river, but the most important thing to Tommy was spending time with his family and friends.
Mr. Dowd is survived by his wife, Debra of the home; daughter, Lisa Stanglin and husband Dean of Yuba, Oklahoma; son, Jason Dowd and wife Casey of Calera, Oklahoma; mother, Nelda Compton of Yuba, Oklahoma; brother, Jerry Dowd and wife Fay of Bonham, Texas; sister, Hope Hutchings and husband Marty of Yuba, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Riggin Dellis, Rylee Stanglin, Delton Roberts, Hayden Roberts and Finlee Dowd; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Mr. Dowd was preceded in death by his father, Charles Dowd; step-father, Junior Compton.
Family Hour will be from 7-8:00 PM Sunday, September 15 at the Kemp Baptist Church in Kemp, Oklahoma.
A Funeral Service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, September 16, 2013 at the Kemp Baptist Church in Kemp, Oklahoma with Roger Speers officiating. Interment will follow at the Yarnaby Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jackie Gudgel, Jackie Cline, Benny Thompson, Billy Blackshear, John Andrews and Butch Horton. Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Lankford, Carl McGuire, Mickey Dyson, Dee Davis and Gary Davis.
