Services were held Monday, April 7, 2008, at 2 p.m. for Hazel Branch, 81, of Yuba, who passed away Friday, April 4, 2008, at Southern Pointe Living Center in Colbert. The service was held at Yuba Baptist Church, with Bro. Marty Hutchings officiating. Hazel will be buried at Yarnaby Cemetery in Yarnaby.
A family hour will be held 7-8 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2008, at Gordon-Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home in Achille.
Hazel was born Sunday, Jan. 30, 1927, in Yuba to Frank Jesse Grider and Vinnie Elizabeth (Lawson) Grider. She married Jess Branch on Feb. 15, 1945, at Yuba. She was a lifelong resident of Yuba. Mrs. Branch retired after 19 years from the Levi Strauss Co. as a seat seamer. She was a member of the Yuba Baptist Church, and she enjoyed spending time with family.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters, three brothers, grandsons Ricky Burt, Jessie Burt, Wesley Branch, and one great grandson, Ricky Burt II.
Hazel is survived by her sons Danny Branch and wife Obie of Rancho Cuca Monga, Calif., and Jessie Branch and wife Margie of Denison, Texas; daughters Annie Burt and husband Andrew of Yuba, and Connie Pierson and husband Royce of Colbert; brother Frank Grider, Jr. of Tulsa; sisters Bobbi Hutchings and husband Joe of Calera and Ruby Hensley of Bennington; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchindren and numerous nieces, nephews and host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Michael Howard, Daniel Howard, Ty Burt, Casey Weger, Nolan Hobbs, Danny Howard, Jeff Branch and Jessie Branch.
