Ottis Harmon Mitchell beloved family member and resident of Durant, OK passed from this earthly life on December 27, 2019 at the age of 93.
Ottis was born in Savoy, TX on September 3, 1926 to Charles L. and Lena Lenore (Ellis) Mitchell. Ottis married Lorene Williams in Bonham, TX on September 1, 1949.
Ottis served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He worked for Williams Implement John Deere for 17 years.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Lorene and son Danny of the home. Son Gerry and wife Connie Mitchell of Durant, OK. Son Paul of Cumberland Furnace, TN, daughters Paula and husband Tommy Hestily of Bokchito, OK, Pam and husband Terry Harrison of Mead, OK. Grandsons Gregory Mitchell and wife Linda, Adam Trent, Brenton Knight, Chad Damron, Todd Damron and wife Amy, Danny Swafford and wife Gina, and Robert Connor and wife Kari. Granddaughters Sara Billings and husband Lance, Veronica Rohrlack and husband Michael, Lisa Peterson and husband Greg, Lauren Martin and husband Charles, Stephanie Campbell and husband Chris, and Tennile Dukes. Sister Ola Faye Pruitt of Albany, OK, 35 great grandchildren, 31 great great-grandchildren, and numerous step grandkids and great grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Lena Mitchell, daughter Deborah Damron, great grandson Silas Don Mitchell, sisters Mildred Stone, Ruth Beal, Mary Ann Mitchell, and Maudell Williams (Barfield). Brothers Charles Mitchell, York Mitchell, JW Mitchell, and Bryon Mitchell.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Utica Baptist Church with Bro. John Heath officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery with his grandsons Greg Mitchell, Brenton Knight, Adam Trent, Chad Damron, Todd Damron, and Danny Michael Swafford serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Connor, Greg Peterson, Lance Billings, and Charles Martin. Family hour will be at Brown’s Funeral Service on Monday, December 30, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
