Juanita Powell, a resident of Durant, OK, and cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother joined her husband Jasper on November 21, 2021, at the age of 96. She was born in Wade, OK to Adlai A. Jackson and Flora M. (Clifton) Jackson on January 4, 1925. Juanita married the love of her life Jasper Powell in Bryan County on June 26, 1943.
Juanita loved making a comfortable home for her family. She was very talented and enjoyed making quilts that are now family treasures. Juanita liked to garden and shared from her harvest. She liked to play dominoes and cards with her family and friends.
Mrs. Powell is survived by her: Children, Olevia Olson and husband Robert of Paris, TX, along with Gary Powell and wife Joan of Durant, OK: Grandchildren, Stephen Powell and wife Edie of Durant, OK, Shalleigh Johnson and husband Bret of Durant, OK, Robin Castro and husband Manuel of Corpus Christi, TX, and Granddaughter-in-law, Leslie Powell of Durant, OK: Great-grandchildren, Dylan and Kayla Powell of Durant, OK, Mackenzie Powell and Ryan Becham of Madill, OK, Gracie Powell and Kaleb Powell both of Durant, OK.
Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by: Parents, Adlai and Flora Jackson, Husband, Jasper Powell, Son, Wayne Powell, Grandson, Gary Dale Powell, Brothers, Roy and Harry Jackson, Sisters, Oleta Miller and Beatrice Scott.
Family hour will be from 9:00 AM-10:00 AM on Wednesday November 24th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Chapel in Durant, OK. A chapel service will begin at 10:00 AM with Rev. David Couch officiating. Her final resting place will be the Wade Cemetery with Stephen Powell, Kaleb Powell, Dylan Powell, Robin Castro, Mackenzie Powell, and Ryan Becham as her pallbearers.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Southern Point Living Center and former nurse Brandy for all their loving care. They also want to thank the Aspire Hospice Group Markita, Alyssa, Shawna, and Chaplin David Couch for their devotion to Juanita. They appreciate all of you so much.
Services are under the direction of Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, OK.
